As a key member of the LGR Portfolio Construction team, the Investment Manager will deliver into the investment objectives of LGR and the determination of LGR investment strategy including making proposals to the LGR Asset and Liability Committee.

As a key member of the LGR Portfolio Construction team, the Investment Manager will deliver into the investment objectives of LGR and the determination of LGR investment strategy including making proposals to the LGR Asset and Liability Committee.

In this role you will be primarily responsible for proposing new business investment strategy and leading the implementation of the agreed strategy within the approved risk appetite and ensure on-going portfolio management stays within agreed framework. You will also be expected to contribute to wider discussions connected with view creation, oversight and managing the asset liability management process.

  • To help design and implement the asset allocation for the LGR front book portfolio i.e. all new premiums that come in via PRT/bulk annuities new business, especially with respect to risk free allocations
  • To work with our asset manager and banking partners to help monitor and execute tactical relative value opportunities in the LDI/rates/inflation space, in line with our investment objectives and constraints
  • To help drive the team's efforts in all aspects of ALM and market hedging with respect to interest rate, inflation risks and second order risks such as swap spreads, iota, ranging from portfolio design to creating and overseeing the execution of instructions to our asset manager
  • To be the subject matter expert guiding internal pricing teams with respect to setting pricing frameworks in relation to hedging, liquidity and derivatives
  • To assist in enhancing L&G's market leading position in bullk annuities via working on bulk annuity transactions, leading transactions with complexity in terms of market risk hedging and derivatives
  •  To ensure that the principles of Conduct Risk are embedded into day to day operations, ensuring that all business processes and internal controls within the role are designed and performed in such a way that delivers good customer outcomes and demonstrates effective management of conduct risk
  • Substantial successful experience in fixed income, either on the sell side in the rates space (sales/structuring/trading/strategist) or on the buy side (in a portfolio management/LDI/ALM/solutions capacity).
  • Very good understanding of the macro environment ("market aware") and the ability to influence stakeholders on market and trade views
  • Strong and demonstrable track record of interacting well with large range of stakeholders including fund managers, investment managers, consultants and risk managers.
  • Strategic thinker – ability to think long term and understand the impact of external events on the determination and implementation of investment strategy
  • Commercial approach, able to balance technical considerations with commercial awareness.
  • High degree of creativity, with the ability to come up with ideas independently to enhance portfolios and pricing under competitive pressures
  • Excellent written and numeracy skills.
  • Good analytical skills
  • Strong interpersonal and influencing skills
  • Highly proactive, strong team player
