We are a small proactive HR Shared Services team and are looking for an experienced HR Advisor to join our busy friendly team. 

We are a small proactive HR Shared Services team and are looking for an experienced HR Advisor to join our busy friendly team. 

Reporting into the Shared Services Team manager, this is a hands-on role where you would be working in a fast paced unionised environment and therefore require you to be confident in dealing with a wide range of stakeholders.

We are in the process of changing the way that our HR shared service team works and its service delivery model so this is a great time to join the organisation and will provide you with an opportunity to gain varied experience.

 

Duties include:

  • Challenging and influencing the customer through providing advice and support on complex and sensitive HR issues including employee relations matters, ensuring these are handled in accordance with employment law legislation.
  • Accurately maintaining data held across the core HR systems
  • Create and deliver HR Training material to upskill our people management capability in order to reduce the reliance on HR
  • Working alongside our external payroll provider assisting with queries including mileage, payslips, maternity, paternity and absence.
  • Providing excellent customer service and ensuring agreed SLA’s and quality measures are met through effective management and prioritisation of workload
  • Identify and propose improvements to policy or processes to enhance customer experience
  • Participate in any appropriate HR or business related projects or initiatives

Knowledge and Experience

  • Substantial experience of working in an HR advisory role
  • CIPD or equivalent demonstrable experience
  • Strong knowledge of current Employment Law
  • Excellent leadership and influencing skills
  • HR administration and best practice

 

Skills:

  • Highly organised. Able to manage multiple priorities in order to meet strict deadlines.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to build strong working relationships at all levels
  • A willingness to challenge in a constructive manner
  • Good standard of written and verbal communication
  • Ability to build relationships and communicate in a clear and fluent way to appropriate audience and adapt the style of delivery to suit the audience.
  • Diligent with an attention to detail
  • Approachable and positive demeanour
  • Strong understanding

 

Desriable:

  • An understanding of payroll transactions would be advantageous
  • Flexiblity to work in other locations on occasion
  • Preferably had previous experience in working within a shared service
