To focus on the Model & Financial Controls Framework (MFCF) and provide assurance to management that key financial controls are in place and being operated correctly through a cycle of process reviews and controls testing across not only the finance team but the division.

Purpose

To focus on the Model & Financial Controls Framework (MFCF) and provide assurance to management that key financial controls are in place and being operated correctly through a cycle of process reviews and controls testing across not only the finance team but the division.

Key Responsibilities

  • To support managing the division’s financial control framework in order to provide assurance to management whether appropriate financial controls are in place.
  • To plan and execute in-cycle reviews to check whether selected financial reporting controls are operating effectively and to agree remediation plans.
  • To plan and execute a programme of controls testing to check whether financial reporting controls are designed, implemented and operating effectively and to agree remediation plans.
  • To prepare & present key management information to senior management to provide assurance over the performance of financial controls.
  • To investigate risk events to provide assurance that risks remain mitigated within appetite.
  • Support Model Risk project, model remediation work and ongoing monitoring of review cycle in order to ensure model risk is properly managed.
  • Monitor LGR Finance CBT compliance to ensure all CBTs are completed in a timely manner.

Qualifications

  • Qualified Accounting - ACA/ ACCA/ CIMA

Knowledge

  • Exposure to an auditing background or similar
  • Knowledge of the operation of financial controls
  • Exposure to actuarial concepts
  • Knowledge of the insurance industry
  • Exposure to operational risk
  • Exposure to model controls

Skills

  • Ability to present complex financial information in a suitable manner for senior management
  • Attention to detail
  • Clear concise communication and ability to work as part of a team
  • Ability to critically challenge technical requirements and to think outside the box to find innovative, practical and commercial solutions to problems
