The Senior Platform Manager is responsible for leading the cloud services team to manage LGRI’s strategic Microsoft Azure cloud platform infrastructure ensuring high availability/performance Service Level Agreements (SLAs)s are met and is responsible for leading the design of the service delivery architecture (networking/system provisioning and configuration, platform deployment).  The role holder will provide input/challenge to platform software engineering solutions from a deployment and system management perspective, and manage the Cloud Services Platform Operations team ensuring they are focused on delivering business objectives and strategic goals. 

The Senior Platform Manager is responsible for leading the cloud services team to manage LGRI’s strategic Microsoft Azure cloud platform infrastructure ensuring high availability/performance Service Level Agreements (SLAs)s are met and is responsible for leading the design of the service delivery architecture (networking/system provisioning and configuration, platform deployment).  The role holder will provide input/challenge to platform software engineering solutions from a deployment and system management perspective, and manage the Cloud Services Platform Operations team ensuring they are focused on delivering business objectives and strategic goals. 

Principal Accountabilities:

1. Lead a team of subject matter experts to design and manage the infrastructure (including capacity plan) to support LGRI’s distributed product platform (Network and Systems) and be a credible leader in this discipline.

2. Lead the design of the service deployment architecture and environment (i.e. SCM) management policy and enforcement through monitoring, auditing and reporting systems

3. Lead and drive the use of open interfaces, platforms and reusable services to reduce effort, increase efficiencies, standardise our approach and accelerate the delivery our application building blocks.

4. Accelerate and provide direction to the adoption of IT infrastructure automation and scalable cloud platforms to speed cycle times, increase availability, improve reliability engineering and our drive for continual delivery whilst ensuring the maintenance of a secure platforms and demonstrate using appropriate tools (Pen Testing, IDS, etc.)

5. Provide the management of platform services/infrastructure outsourced to 3rd-parties (Data centres, DNS/Geo load balancing, backbone and internet connectivity, CDN/Web acceleration)

6. Manage, motivate and develop employees at all levels, in a manner that is consistent with the Company’s policies and procedures the including Partnership Agreement, to maximise the performance of the area.

7. Ensure that the principles of Conduct Risk are embedded into your day to day operations

to deliver good customer outcomes at all times. Ensure that all business processes and

internal controls within your role are designed and performed in a way that delivers good

customer outcomes and demonstrates effective management of Conduct Risk

8. To ensure approach to and work delivered supports L&G’s commitment to Treating Customers Fairly (TCF) to ensure the right outcome and excellent service delivery.

  • Degree and/or MBA educated- desirable but not mandatory or suitable comparable/demonstrable role experience and capability
  • Infrastructure management, Prince2, Project management and/or  Agile qualifications - desirable but not essential
  • PROSCI/Adkar & change qualifications  - desirable but not essential
  • Regulated Industry background preference
  • Infrastructure experience with track record of effective management, & reporting with experience of driving and implementing consistent Infrastructure delivery and maintenance plans across complex geographical / functional matrix organizations
  • Proven track record of implementing modern Infrastructure plans across large, complex, change and technology initiatives with track record of building effective relationships to ensure approved agreed delivery plans
  • Proven background in adapting to trends and openness to new ideas
  • Ensuring Infrastructure management and delivery confidence across all levels with technical and non-technical audiences 
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently focusing on priorities, and managing a high-volume of tasks, deadlines, requirements, and decisions
  • Collaborative worker who freely shares their knowledge and experience 
  • Develop, get buy-in and deliver approaches across the organisation and wider division and track record of building effective relationships
  • Effective at making good decisions and delivering great outcomes in in line with IT&T strategy
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to successfully engage and influence a broad range of individuals across various internal and external businesses and support functions and  ability to develop and mentor individuals
