The role holder will be tasked with building an effective & valued IT & Transformation (IT&T)  Technology capability that encompasses Solutions Architecture, Design, DevOps, Quality, Test, Build, Service Delivery and Operations as appropriate, and to resource the organisation from the best available internal and/or external resources.

The role holder will be tasked with building an effective & valued IT & Transformation (IT&T)  Technology capability that encompasses Solutions Architecture, Design, DevOps, Quality, Test, Build, Service Delivery and Operations as appropriate, and to resource the organisation from the best available internal and/or external resources. They will drive customer focus, a consistent approach and develop a high performance team culture. They will drive the design and adoption of an effective DevOps capability (infrastructure automation and continuous delivery). 

Principal accountabilities: 

1. To enable the rapid delivery of the technology aspects of the business capability building, innovation, improvement and change request agenda by planning, aligning & balancing delivery capabilities across multiple agile technology product lines.  

2. Deliver effective, timely and relevant communication to ensure all interested parties including stakeholders and senior executives are fully informed of the technology, organisation’s development and progress with regards to strategy, plans and technology delivery.  

3. Continually review the impact of internal and external challenges to ensure the technology components of IT&T strategy remains fit for purpose, identifying and resolving conflicts and agree additions, deletions or modifications to the organisation with the senior leadership team 

4. Build effective & efficient customer focused estimating, prioritisation, technology product backlog management, pre-production environment, build, packaging and release capabilities. 

5. Lead the adoption and implementation of operational continuous improvements, including tangible, visible efficiency and cost reduction controls and targets, whilst maintaining quality, relationships and a firm focus on delivering excellent commercial and customer outcomes. 

6. To take the lead in all matters with regard to the management of employees, ensuring that management discretion is used in a consistent manner and that the area follows the Group’s policies and procedures including the Partnership Agreement to maximise business performance.  

7. Ensure that the principles of Conduct Risk are embedded into your day to day operations to deliver good customer outcomes at all times. Ensure that all business processes and internal controls within your role are designed and performed in a way that delivers good customer outcomes and demonstrates effective management of Conduct Risk 

8. To ensure approach to and work delivered supports L&G’s commitment to Treating Customers Fairly (TCF) to ensure the right outcome and excellent service delivery. 

 

  • Degree and/or MBA educated- desirable but not essential or suitable comparable/demonstrable role experience and capability 
  • Knowledge of business models, operating models, budgeting and risk management 
  • Exposure and understanding of existing and emerging new technologies and digital environment 
  • Change/Transformation management disciplines and transformation expertise 
  • Technology and software change delivery and lifecycle management methodologies.  
  • Understanding and articulating business outcomes 
  • Leading the delivery of technology strategies for businesses. 
  • Ability to develop, and project a positive image of functions & company through interpersonal, written & verbal communications to a wide range of audiences. 
  • Product, process and technology savvy with an aptitude to bridge the gap between business and IT to deliver pragmatic solutions to problems. 
  • Proven background in adapting to trends and openness to new ideas. 
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with a demonstrated ability to work independently, prioritise, and manage a high-volume of tasks, deadlines, requirements, and decisions. 
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with an ability to clearly define issues and make tough decisions in the face of ambiguity and incomplete information.
