We are hiring a Business Intelligence Analyst to produce and collate complex, timely and accurate reports and management information across the Corporate Operations business areas.

To produce and collate complex, timely and accurate reports and management information across the Corporate Operations business areas, acting as a role model, advocate and expert/point of reference for Corporate Pensions and/or Corporate Protection management information, its analysis and insights.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES                                     

Business Intelligence capture & reporting:

  • Design, prepare and produce regular and ad hoc, accurate and timely, complex management information reports for internal and external customers.
  • Through a comprehensive understanding of the Corporate operational models and strategy, pro-actively manage own workload, prioritising appropriately to maintain and enhance the statistical information on Corporate Operations performance in line with growth, changes and developments in our business.
  •  Maintain and develop the correct production of regular and recurrent management information, ensuring procedures are in place, understood and followed. This includes all workflow, productivity and financial reporting aspects of Corporate Operations for internal and or external use.
  • Define, develop and deliver processes to ensure that a consistently high quality service is provided to all internal and external customers by acting as a point of liaison between system owners and the department.
  • Co-ordinate, recommend, request, prioritise and review any ideas for improvement, changes or developments to reports and business tools obtained while pro-actively monitoring and reducing errors and omissions in all reports. Give presentations on MI, related reports or topical developments when attending key management and customer meetings as required.
  • Create, implement and maintain the management information requirements of complex projects. Provide accurate and timely complex reports to relevant senior managers including Heads of Department, the Corporate Chief Operations Officer and other Corporate division directors.
  • Analyse, interpret, challenge and provide insights and intelligence surrounding trends and potential issues to improve the businesses performance, controls and customer service.
  • Maintain a good working knowledge of the relevant pensions and protection regulations and compliance requirements, including complaint handling, and breach reporting. Apply this knowledge to design and production of reports to enable all customers to pro-actively manage and develop the business within internal guidelines and those laid down by the regulators. In addition protect Corporate Operations and LGAS from fraudulent activity and unnecessary loss through accurate production of root cause and trend information.

Interaction with operational teams

  • Negotiate with managers and internal or external customers. At all levels use effective communication and act on feedback to update and refine all types of management information, control tools and processes. Take responsibility for raising and implementing process improvements including monitoring spreadsheets and other tools in place for the capture of statistics that are used by colleagues and give feedback where errors are made to ensure proper use of these tools is understood and achieved and, thereby support Corporate Operations’ goals of reducing operational costs.
  • Use and enhance expertise to answer complex enquiries and to mentor and develop colleagues so that they continuously improve both their individual skills and our servicing proposition across Corporate Operations.

Market and business analysis

  • Identify appropriate and relevant sources of information that provide the Corporate Operations management team with knowledge, understanding, analysis and insights around the wider pensions and protection markets, our competitors and potential opportunities.

Best Practice

  • Ensure all principles of best practice are adopted across all processes and procedures and ensure any breaches to these are recorded, corrected and monitored to reduce any possible impact to the business.
  • Enhance own expertise through a pro-active self-driven programme of personal development. Assist in the development of colleagues to maintain complex reports and MI. Help them to understand how to turn valuable Management Information into Business Intelligence.
  • Support the Planning & Business Intelligence Manager and other P,BI&I colleagues by undertaking ad-hoc analysis and projects, as required, to further develop the success of the business unit and own personal profile within Corporate Operations.

Knowledge Required

  • Good understanding of Corporate's customer, product and distribution landscape and its commercial drivers
  • Good understanding of data collection, presenting options, relevant Office software and the basic mathematical functions required to assess management information
  • Good grasp of financial services market dynamics, political, regulatory and economic issues affecting the sector
  • Sound understanding of the regulatory and legislative context within which Corporate operates
  • Good understanding of Corporate's customer and policy systems and processes

Experience Required

  • Experience of delivering management information and insights to senior management
  • Substantial experience in using Microsoft Office software to design and produce effective operational management information reports
