The purpose of the role is to carry out Business Testing processes, which are consistent with L&G Test Policy and Strategy, working with the Test Manager to ensure that efficient testing is delivered to the agreed quality standards.

 

  • Deliver Business Testing for projects/portfolios to agreed time/budget/quality tolerances as laid down in business case, test strategies and commercial agreement with IT service providers
  • Conduct test reviews (including Static testing) throughout the development lifecycle, to identify any artefacts that are not fit for purpose. Comply with the agreed test methodology and standards to ensure good governance and record keeping in line with Legal & General test principles and commercial interests
  • Provide input into defining the appropriate test approach in collaboration with the Test Manager to ensure effective Business Test preparation and execution is produced, which mitigates business risk
  • Own the creation of the Business Test Analysis deliverables throughout the whole project lifecycle applying best practice testing principles to ensure cost effective testing whilst balancing business risk
  • Determine the adequate level of Business Test Coverage in collaboration with the Test Manager, Business Analysts and Business Users and provides input into the testing estimates
  • Perform Test Execution, involving leading business resources where required, as agreed in the BAT Stage Test Plan and raise defects on ALM or JIRA and retesting defect fixes when deployed to the test environments
  • Treating Customers Fairly (TCF): Ensure that appropriate prioritising, planning and contingency for customer issues are integrated into solution designs so they are central to delivery and aligned to L&G’s Customer Experience and Treating Customers Fairly Policy
  • Provide effective communication to Test Managers and Business users to support the smooth delivery of the test activity.
  • Supports the Test Manager in defining the entry criteria to BAT and make recommendations at exit from BAT
  • To manage the team in accordance with the Company’s policies and procedures, including the Partnership Agreement, so that the team’s business objectives are achieved consistently

•             ISTQB Advanced Test Analyst certification or equivalent experience

•             Full understanding of a variety of test analysis techniques and their implementation

•             Should have good knowledge of BDD, TDD, and automation tool sets and different test process and methodologies

•             Full understanding of the creation and execution of test scripts

•             Experienced in using JIRA, and ideally also XRay plugin

•             Good understanding of the different drivers and needs of customers, distributors and partners

•             Working knowledge of L&G Business Unit products and services, and of competitor markets and broader market developments and has the ability to evaluate their impact upon the organisation

•             Detailed Knowledge and understanding of systems and structures within Business Units

•             Good Understanding of L&G wide systems, structures and dependencies

•             Experience in at least 2 test methodologies (for example Waterfall, Agile, SAFe, Extreme) across multiple projects

•             Experience in using a test tool to control scripting and execution of tests

•             Experience in use of defect management tool

•             Experience in use of a number of industry recognized test analysis techniques

•             Experience in Financial Services Industry required, Pensions an advantage

•             Understanding of test scheduling and working with business teams in implementing the execution for those schedules
