About the business area

In 2018 LGIM took an ambitious decision to create an integrated investment management and client portfolio platform. Rather than creating something new, the aim was to leverage the existing investments in technology and people and enhance with new functionality to create a single cohesive platform.  Nexus is a 21st century, scalable solution that manages investments, IT and data demand centrally.  It is not a project, it is an integrated “Solutions” platform underpinned by a suite of shared services and data infrastructure. Setup as an enduring Agile value stream with sustained investment, Nexus is fundamentally transforming the way Legal and General Investment Management operates.

A permanent team was created with colleagues from LGIM Investment (led by Michael Kovacs in Chicago) and LGIM Technology (lead by Stuart Campbell in London). Scrum teams use Agile working methodologies enabling functional enhancements and features to be deployed rapidly and frequently, quickly delivering value to our clients.  Nexus is set up in a flexible structure meaning quarterly pivots on priorities can be handled with minimal disruption.  Working across four core domains (Control, Portfolio Management, Data and Risk Analytics) the team have already delivered a number of solutions.

The combined team is an integral part of the Investments team and has dual reporting lines into both the Chief Investment Officer and Chief Digital & Technology Officer. The blueprint for the next stage of the Nexus development programme has just been cut with build due to start in Q3. Nexus will be cutting-edge, cloud-native, built for now and tomorrow as our first truly global, dashboard-driven, scalable platform with a consistent-user experience from any office across the globe.
