We are looking for a Senior Actuarial Analyst to join our London office.

Provide assistance as directed with the following:

  • Fund Pricing, in respect of unit-linked external funds and the pricing of new unit-linked internal and external funds
  • Prophet Model, covering reconciliations with the relevant Reporting models, the updating, delivery and support of the Workplace DC Model and the general maintenance of all our prophet models
  • Ad Hoc Items, covering projects, analyses and reports
  • Illustration Systems, covering the understanding, testing and maintenance of the projections
  • Management Information, covering the data manipulation, data analysis and report production aspects of the regular  MI reports
  • To assist with producing detailed analyses of experience against pricing assumptions for key factors within the product pricing model. These include mortality, claims experience, persistency, expenses and profit margins.
  • Provide timely pricing for all bundled Workplace DC requests within targets, negotiating and agreeing terms with all stakeholders for large or otherwise non-standard opportunities and agreeing special terms for all channels to secure volume and profit ensuring that an appropriate but commercial balance is maintained between the sacrifice of sales allowance, incentive and product margins
  • To agreed timescales, authorise the Scheme Set Up Authority for each client implementation, confirming the annual management charges, and later authorise new business set up within work queues
  • Consider L&G’s Customer Experience and Treating Customers Fairly Policy in pricing Workplace DC products
  • Participate fully in appropriate and timely training to meet other accountabilities and development needs
  • Continue study towards becoming a Fellow of the Institute & Faculty of Actuaries (or equivalent body) receiving, where appropriate, support through the L&G Actuarial Study Scheme
  • Provide training to other members of the team as required

Qualifications:

  • A current student member of the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries with a good track record of exam passes to date

Technical Knowledge:

  • Demonstrable experience working in a UK life office or reinsurer. Knowledge of unit linked and with profits life and pensions products would be an advantage, but is not essential as training will be given

Skills:

  • The ability to promptly analyse work requests to assess requirements and respond with any supplementary questions as necessary
  • Good general knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet (& VBA) and e-mail tasks. Training will be given on Prophet, SAS, DCS and VBA, as appropriate
  • The ability to investigate and solve problems where they arise
  • The ability to handle a fairly high volume of diverse work, planning ahead where necessary so as to give appropriate priority to each piece of work
  • The ability to perform calculations quickly and accurately with a low error rate, and to assess the results of calculations to ensure they are reasonable
  • The ability to question results for reasonableness, and also to refer to more experienced staff where appropriate
  • Good teamworking skills
  • The ability to communicate clearly, so as to convey understanding of sometimes complex detail to both internal and external customers
  • The ability to draft and maintain documentation of team tasks
