The role holder will be responsible for supporting the business development director with the development and implementation of strategy for new segments falling outside the existing businesses.

The role holder will be responsible for supporting the business development director with the development and implementation of strategy for new segments falling outside the existing businesses.

 

In addition the role holder will be responsible for supporting the Retirement Income Managing Director and the LGRR CEO with analysis and production of collateral to support the divisional strategy plans.

 

Business Development:

  • Lead the analysis to support the assessment of strategic options by
    • Developing and delivering quantitative analysis to support the preparation of business cases
    • Conducting qualitative analysis to support the strategic plans including customer research and insight
    • Working with SME’s within the business to develop clear execution plans and plans to implementat into BAU
  • Support the delivery of strategic initiatives by
    • Acting as the business owner for particular workstreams or projects
    • Keeping stakeholders up to date on progress
    • Working with transformation to ensure a timely delivery

 

New product markets:

  • Support the Head of new products with analysis and preparation of material to deliver the strategy for new product markets to diversify LGRR’s sources of income both geographically and in other relevant UK product markets

 

Strategy and business plans

  • Support the retirement income MD and finance team to develop a clear and executable 5 year strategic plan by
    • Conducting competitor analysis and market scans
    • Analysing and assessing strategic options
    • Developing slides and supporting material in accordance with Group planning guidelines

 

LGRR CEO support

  • Leading the regular review of the retail retirement income divisional strategy and external comms material to ensure it is kept up to date and relevant
  • Support the LGRR CEO with analysis and the preparation of material to support broader divisional positioning and strategic initiatives

 

Group-wide strategic development initiatives

  • Support the business development director to ensure that LGRR initiatives are aligned with broader Group-wide strategies
  • Contribute to development of the Group-wide retirement ecosystem

 

Treating Customer Fairly

  • Support the defininition, and development of a strategy and plan to ensure business development activities are delivered in line with Legal & General’s Customer Experience and Treating Customers Fairly
  • Typically the jobholder will be an experienced strategic thinker with significant experience of supporting the creation of winning business strategies and the design of supporting operating models. Ideally an individual with a strong grasp of the UK pensions and retirement market likely with consulting experience.

 

Knowledge

  • UK Life Industry and pensions/retirement products in particular
  • Strategic planning processes and approaches (e.g. Harvard Strategic Assessment Methodology)
  • Operating Model frameworks

 

Specific experience and skills:

  • Strong analytical and communications– ability to develop compelling messaging and analysis to engage senior stakeholders. The ability to build relationships, make connections and interact effectively within and across Divisions/Group-wide.
  • Customer insight and awareness
  • Strong commercial awareness and focus on delivering return on investment
  • An ability to create simplicity from complexity, using a wide range of communication media and tools.
