The Head of Mortgage Collections will lead development and oversight of the collections and recoveries function of LGHF - with responsibility for supporting customer in financial difficulties. The role will also Include strategy/process design and oversight, adherence to all relevant service levels and minimising of financial and reputational risk.

  • Development and oversight of the collections & recoveries function of LGHF with responsibility for supporting customer in financial difficulties including pre-arrears, arrears, recoveries and asset management. Including strategy/process design and oversight, adherence to all relevant service levels and minimising of financial and reputational risk.
  • Responsibility for the recovery of property assets arising from Events of Default, material breaches of the terms and conditions and ‘at risk’ assets such as non-payment of service charges, compulsory purchase order and mortgage fraud. Maintaining relationships with Group Legal, and the contractual performance of external solicitors & counsel, asset management companies and other relevant providers.
  • Responsibility for the oversight of accounts where a Repayment Event or other material breach has occurred, including investigation, recommendation and sign off of proposed resolution.
  • Acting as an SME and ensuring compliance with all relevant regulatory requirement and best practices LGHF commits to. Including but not limited to FCA Principles of Business, MCOB, Pre-Action Protocol, County Court Act, Insolvency Act.
  • LGHF point of contact and liaison for non-customer contentious issues such as professional negligence, payments by mistake, unresolved material breaches of terms of business.
  • Collections & Recoveries SME providing Operation support on complex, non-standard matters including financial difficulties, asset recovery, insolvency, conveyancing/title issues as well as representing LGHF at various L&G Group committees and boards, Regulatory Bodies, Industry Trade Bodies and Benchmarking Forums.
  • Treating Customers Fairly (TCF) - Ensure that the principles of Conduct Risk are embedded into your day to day operations to deliver good customer outcomes at all times. Ensure that all business processes and internal controls within your role are designed and performed in a way that delivers good customer outcomes and demonstrates effective management of Conduct Risk.
  • To take the lead in all matters with regard to the management of employees, ensuring that management discretion is used in a consistent manner and that the area follows the Group’s policies and procedures including the Partnership Agreement to maximise business performance.
  • Educated to degree level or equivalent
  • Degree in law/legal qualifications (ILEX) would be advantageous
  • Experience working with Lifetime and Residential Mortgages
  • Experience of working within Collections, Recoveries, Asset Management
  • Experience of Litigation
  • Extensive knowledge of lifetime mortgages and residential mortgages,
  • Extensive knowledge of Collections & Recoveries including relevant regulation and legislation such as MCOB, Pre-Action Protocol, County Court Act
  • Experience of developing compliant collections and recoveries strategies and processes
  • Experience of asset management/asset disposal
  • Relationship management expertise and networking skills

  • Analytical and interpretation skills
  • Clear ability to manage own time effectively
