The role holder will be primarily responsible for supporting investment strategy for UK PRT deals with respect to portfolio construction, implementation, hedging execution and client interaction, with a focus on fixed income quantitative asset allocation and S-2-aware portfolio construction.

As a key member of the LGR Investment Solutions team, the role holder will deliver into the investment objectives of LGR specifically with respect to the UK PRT bulk annuity business but also supporting the wider LGR investment strategy mandates with respect to the LGAS, LGRe and LGRA funds.

The role holder will be primarily responsible for supporting investment strategy for UK PRT deals with respect to portfolio construction, implementation, hedging execution and client interaction, with a focus on fixed income quantitative asset allocation and S-2-aware portfolio construction.

Responsibilities will involve working on the above areas on a variety of bulk annuity transactions, proactively working with the PRT, actuarial and reporting teams to optimise investment outcomes. Further they would also include representing the team at internal stakeholders and external clients, implementing asset strategies and hedging programmes post-transaction, assisting in the writing of governance papers and contributing to the general development of the business and of our investment processes.

The role holder would also support the team’s initiatives in researching fixed income asset classes and capital markets products from a top-down macro & relative value perspective, and optimising investment strategy decisions with respect to their financial impacts across various balance sheets, and by extension, their impacts on New business pricing.

Knowledge/Experience:

Financial industry experience from investment banks, asset managers or other financial services institutions in fixed income asset classes (either from a trading or an asset management or a consulting perspective) is strongly desirable. 

Good knowledge with Solvency II capital modelling would be beneficial.

Good knowledge with Insurance Asset-Liability-Management would be beneficial.

Confidence with basic actuarial calculations and principles and Excel, eg cashflow modelling, discounting, etc.

An actuarial background is desirable but not essential

Skill Sets

Substantial successful experience in portfolio management and asset liability management in fixed income.

Very high analytical skills.

Strong and demonstrable track record of interacting well with large range of stakeholders including fund managers, investment managers, consultants and risk managers on highly technical topics.

Strategic thinker – ability to think long term and understand the impact of external events on the determination and implementation of investment strategy.

Commercial approach, able to balance technical considerations with commercial awareness.

Excellent written and numeracy skills.

Strong IT skills: Excel VBA programming experience required, Python desirable but not essential

Strong interpersonal and influencing skills
