We are recruiting for a Senior Audit Manager. 

This role supports the Head of Audit IT & Change by designing, driving and delivering a portfolio of high quality risk-based audit assignments across the Legal & General Group that comply with GIA’s audit methodology and quality standards. Assists in the management of key GIA stakeholders by providing robust assurance and value creating insight and challenge concerning the strength of the control framework and the effectiveness of business risk management, so that GIA fulfils its primary role of supporting the Group Audit Committee and Executive Management in the protection of the assets, reputation and sustainability of Legal & General.

Key Responsibilities.. 

  • Execute a dynamic risk-based audit plan that focuses audit activity on key areas of most significant business risk. Provides assurance that the most significant risks to the business are being well managed.
  • Manage the workload of assigned audit resources including co-source providers, monitor the quality of audit files and ensure all audit work complies with GIA’s methodology and quality standards.
  • Deliver audits on time and to agreed budgets, present to executive management and agree commercially viable audit recommendations and business actions to address areas of risk and failures in the control framework.
  • Deliver high quality audit reports and influence executive stakeholders to embed risk management practices, thereby improving the overall strength of their control framework.
  • Use influencing, negotiating and diplomacy skills to manage key internal and external stakeholder relationships.
  • Keep abreast of and anticipate significant external and internal regulatory and business changes, assessing their potential impact and developing audit strategies for audit activity in these areas.
  • Help drive change within GIA to enable the department to fulfil its Vision.
  • Act as a subject matter expert in the IT & Change
  • Coach junior staff, providing feedback on their performance and actively contributing to their personal development and subject matter expertise.
  • Provide input to GIA reporting to the Group Audit Committee, relevant business division Boards and Risk & Compliance Committees, on significant areas of concern and the remedial actions required to mitigate risk to the Group.

Key Skills & Experience

  • This role requires a high calibre individual, experienced in managing at a senior level, with considerable experience in IT and Change and people management and with proven abilities  in  taking  responsibility  for  executing  high  quality  deliverables  within  strict timetables.
  • Professional auditing or IT/Change qualification, CISA, CISSP, CISM, PRince2, PMI or MSP ) or equivalent IT and Change audit at infrastructure, application and programme/project level.
  • Internal Audit Standards, Financial Services Code and broader principles and practices.
  • Risk management principles and practices including Conduct and Prudential Regulatory Risk. Corporate Governance practices and frameworks.
  • Available internal audit technology such as data analytics
  • Subject matter expertise to support areas of audit delivery – such as COBIT, ITIL, ISO standards 27001 and 22301
  • Previous experience of IT or change practitioner would be valuable in areas such as IT security, outsourcing, IT service management project or programme management.
  • Previous experience within the insurance or investment management industry an advantage.
  • Degree education desirable.
