Supporting the undertaking of policy oversight activity not only in LGAS, but in all entities and divisions, regulated and non-regulated activity through a risk-based lens, across the group. Collaborate with colleagues across the group in the development of reports for governance fora, on behalf of the Group Conduct Risk and Compliance Director.  Support the development and undertaking of a holistic annual planning process within divisions, entities and for Group Conduct Risk.

Purpose of role:

Supporting the undertaking of policy oversight activity not only in LGAS, but in all entities and divisions, regulated and non-regulated activity through a risk-based lens, across the group. Collaborate with colleagues across the group in the development of reports for governance fora, on behalf of the Group Conduct Risk and Compliance Director.  Support the development and undertaking of a holistic annual planning process within divisions, entities and for Group Conduct Risk.

Principal accountabilities:

Policy Framework: Support the embedding and evolution of the Group Conduct Risk Policy suite, across all divisions and entities within the Group, taking a pragmatic and risk based approach.

Management Information: Ongoing review, analysis and interpretation of management information from across the group.   Building on this to contribute to thought leadership, reports for governance fora and identify areas for further consideration / oversight.

Relationship Development: Developing strong working relationships with colleagues and contacts within divisions and entities across the group, such that:

  • Priorities are understood – each way
  • Management information and division / entity performance is understood (relating to regulatory and customer / conduct activity)
  • Information or activity required under pressure will be provided / acted on.

Secretariat activities: Provide and support the provision of secretariat activities for the following Group Conduct Risk led committees: Conduct Risk Oversight Committee (a sub-Committee of the Executive Risk Committee), Conduct Risk Management Committee (a functional leadership committee) and the Group Complaints Oversight Committee.

Ad hoc reviews: Support the undertaking / perform ad hoc reviews, such as ‘reasonable steps’ reviews, on divisional or entity activity.  The need for and basis of ad hoc reviews will be based on, for example, potential issues identified through management information analysis, long running conduct or regulatory matter arising or management request for a reasonableness steps review.

Star Compliance: Support the ongoing use and management / administration of the IT system, Star Compliance, such that its use is optimised at Group and within divisions / entities.

Group Function support: Support the provision of regulatory and conduct risk advice, guidance and challenge to group functions.

Qualifications:

No specific qualification is required but in order to demonstrate the knowledge required to perform the role, basic financial services or risk management qualifications would be an advantage. 

Knowledge:

  • Good understanding of the regulatory environment in which authorised firms operate
  • Detailed knowledge of FCA rules and the structure of the FCA handbook and associated documents.
  • Good understanding of the L&G Structure, business priorities, regulatory engagement and how that should be reflected in reports to governance fora
  • Understanding of L&G strategy and direction
  • Knowledge of L&G corporate structure and corporate governance arrangements

Experience:

  • Strong written communications.
  • Good relationship building skills.
  • Influencing and presentation skills.
  • Track record of good judgement, including decision making, escalation and referral.
  • Collaborative team working.
  • Organisational skills and ability to manage competing priorities.
  • Working calmly under pressure and to deadlines.
  • Strong PC skills.
