The Product Regulatory, Governance and Policy Manager will own, manage and monitor relevant regulatory, governance and policy aspects within the Lifetime Mortgage product team, acting as first line owner of all regulatory and legislative requirements on the business, ensuring at all times products and services are compliant.

  • Review and analyse regulatory and legislative change, providing a summary of requirements to the business. Work with colleagues to evaluate the impact of change, recommending any necessary changes to products, processes and literature where appropriate.
  • Work with key stakeholders to assess consultation papers on proposed regulatory or legislative change, co-ordinating and preparing any formal response for approval and issue.
  • Act as product champion to embed and support the principles of the PLM framework, ensuring all products and processes are development and maintained to deliver good customer outcomes and business objectives.
  • Ensure that a suitable framework exists for the creation, review and collation of product related policies whilst ensuring that they are fit for purpose and meet business, L&G Group and regulatory requirements.
  • Responsible for ensuring the product team has, and maintains, clear documented risk controls across its span of responsibility on OSX, evidencing that these controls are applied, assessed and updated on regular basis.
  • Support the product team in undertaking periodic Product Risk Reviews in accordance with an approved review schedule and governance framework for reporting.
  • Build a strong internal network, engaging relevant stakeholders and gain their support and engagement.
  • Governance - A good understanding of Product Management Lifecycle and Risk Control frameworks.
  • Regulation - Technical knowledge of mortgages and/or lifetime mortgage lending would be an advantage, especially demonstrating a working knowledge of the FCA Mortgages and Home Finance Conduct of Business sourcebook (MCOB). Knowledge of recent mortgage regulatory change, including the Mortgage Market Review (MMR) and the Mortgage Credit Directive (MCD) would be an advantage.
  • Industry Knowledge - Knowledge of the mortgage and retirement industry, including key participants. An understanding of the current challenges and opportunities in the mortgage market would be an advantage.
  • Product & Processes - A strong knowledge of mortgage products products. A good understanding of L&G processes, both pre-retirement (warm-up packs) and at retirement (quotations and new business processing).
