The Developer is responsible for their own software development within the team, on a variety of solutions and operating systems.  This involves the full software development life cycle from initial specifications and requirements in conjunction with senior members of the team, through to estimation, development, testing, and release coordination with the Lead Developer.

The Solution Engineering team is responsible for the coordination and control of all technical delivery of analytical technology solutions across the LGR portfolio. They are responsible for development and delivery standards to ensure fully integrated and consistent delivery of technology.

 

The Developer is responsible for their own software development within the team, on a variety of solutions and operating systems.  This involves the full software development life cycle from initial specifications and requirements in conjunction with senior members of the team, through to estimation, development, testing, and release coordination with the Lead Developer.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Work with senior members of the team to define and scope configuration, interfacing and enhancement work with the supplier, project managers, and financial engineers
  • Undertake setup and configuration of the Algorithmics and third party products (database, middleware, reporting solutions), troubleshooting, testing (functional and volume) for original installation and system upgrades
  • Ensure analysis and requirements are detailed enough to implement solutions right first time, track changes to requirements and impact analysis to timings and plans.  Own and drive business analysis of changes to software
  • Keep up to date with latest technology and code advances and suggest improvements
  • Develop customised solutions and modules in a range of development tools
  • Design and implement interfaces between source systems and AlgoOne products
  • Provide new ideas to ensure the batch process is automated and as efficient as possible
  • Define and scope configuration, interfacing and enhancement work with the supplier, project managers, and financial engineers

Qualifications:

  • Degree level or equivalent, in a technical or numerate field

 

Knowledge:

  • Proven ability to address and use initiative to deliver solutions to technical and business problems
  • Proven experience in software or database systems development and/or support with experience of project life cycles and complex product installation, customisation and commissioning
  • Software development life cycle, including Agile and Continuous Integration
  • Knowledge of automated unit test design
  • Experience of AlgoOne risk suite is beneficial but not essential as training will be provided.

 

Skills:

  • Good hands on use of Unix commands / file systems and Unix application installation and shell scripting is beneficial. Candidates should be willing to use the command terminal.
  • Development experience and coding skills.  Development will be done in Python but candidates with good experience in any of Python, VB, Java, C#, C++, Shell, Risk++ or any other modern programming language will be considered.
  • Sound documentation and communication skills in a client / customer facing environment
  • Familiarity with database essentials (SQL, installation, sizing, performance), experienced DBA skills not essential, but familiarity with using Oracle or MS SQL Server is beneficial, including SSIS.
  • Source control, issue management software, and continuous integration software (Perforce, Subversion, JIRA, Jenkins, Confluence)
  • A degree of technical, application and data architecture skills
