The Head of Claims & Rehabilitation Development & Transformation will define and lead the development of the claims and rehabilitation technical philosophy and strategy. They will be responsible for leading and developing transformational change to processes and systems ensuring that a market leading benefits and rehabilitation proposition and service is delivered.

  • Define and lead the development of the claims & rehabilitation technical philosophy and strategy ensuring that delegated authorities are implemented and controlled and that they are consistent with the overall Insurance strategy and Group Protection Key Performance Indicators.
  • Lead and develop transformational change to processes and systems ensuring that a market leading benefits and rehabilitation proposition and service is delivered to our customers; that complaints are handled fairly and that action is taken to reduce the causes of complaints in line with our Customer Experience and Making Life Better (TCF) policy.
  • Lead in all matters with regard to the management of people, developing a high performing team whilst ensuring that Legal & General’s policies and procedures including the Partnership Agreement are followed to maximise business performance. Ensure that roles and responsibilities are regularly reviewed and there is adequate capacity within the team to deliver; that the team remain appropriately qualified and support is provided to ensure career progression and development, and that any performance or behavioural issues are promptly addressed and the appropriate escalation to the benefits and governance director occurs.
  • Represent Legal & General at external forums, technical working groups, steering groups, build business to business relationships; understand and influence industry best practice and negotiate with reassurers, distributors and 3rd parties such that business objectives are represented and realised ensuring that Group Protection are demonstrating thought leadership and expertise.
  • Lead and proactively use trend analysis to identify areas for improvement to our claims risk management approach. Ensuring that the culture of continuous improvement is supported, that there is adequate capacity within the benefits & rehabilitation area to deliver our strategic plans, that costs are managed, monitored and controlled so that the annual budget is achieved in line with the overall Insurance objectives and Key Performance Indicators.
  • Lead in monitoring and reviewing our processes and systems to ensure that all customer data is dealt with appropriately in accordance with legislation, in particular GDPR, the Access to Medical Reports Act (1988) and Legal & General’s Confidentiality Policy.
  • Essential that the job holder has an understanding of a claims area including knowledge of medical conditions, occupations and the effect these can have on an individual’s ability to work.
  • The successful candidate must have proven leadership and management skills with the relevant development and transformational experience. In addition, they must have people management experience.
  • The job holder requires excellent communication, both verbal and written, skills; analytical and risk management skills; ability to be creative and strategic thinking.
