The purpose of this role is to achieve profitable sales of Legal & General Home Finance (LGHF) products through effective relationship management of Partner/Affinity relationships to increase mutual value and profitability, incorporating the key drivers of mortgage lending, market share, business growth and persistency – whilst ensuring these are all met with customer centricity at the forefront.

Purpose

To achieve profitable sales of Legal & General Home Finance (LGHF) products through effective relationship management of Partner/Affinity relationships to increase mutual value and profitability, incorporating the key drivers of mortgage lending, market share, business growth and persistency – whilst ensuring these are all met with customer centricity at the forefront.

Principal Accountabilities

  • To maximise LGHF Sales Volume; design, define, develop and maintain a strategic business development plan to include all new and existing distribution channels (as agreed) of the designated partners. To ensure the strategic plan optimises business volumes.
  • To deliver excellent relationship governance through the agreement and chairing of appropriately frequent, and with agreed TOR, regular governance/business (JMC/OMC) development meetings with partners; preparing agenda, supplying MI and documentation as appropriate.
  • Manage, motivate and develop employees at all levels, in a manner that is consistent with the Company’s policies and procedures including the Partnership Agreement, to maximise the performance of the area.  Delivering training and coaching as appropriate to achieve agreed objectives, ensuring partners are equipped with the knowledge and skills to optimise opportunities for profitable and compliant business acquisition using LGHF products and services.
  • Agree a robust marketing plan with partners, ensuring LGHF Marketing is fully engaged and any contractual marketing spend is used effectively.
  • Identify, develop and maintain close working relationships with key stakeholders both internally and externally, in order to support Partners fully in demonstrating an understanding of their culture, customers, structure and drivers.
  • Develop and maintain an understanding of the external market in which the partner operates, including risks and threats and incorporate this knowledge in the relationship and business development strategy.
  • Ensure contractual performance levels are met and maintained; relevant MI is delivered in a timely manner.
  • Identify, manage and mitigate any risks associated with the delivery and management of the relationships with our strategic partners, ensuring all activities comply with Legal & General distribution oversight, PLM, regulatory and legal procedures, conduct rules and guidelines.
  • Obtain and use internal MI to identify any issues in relation to partner distribution of LGHF products, ensuring they are distributed to the desired target market and the required volume, margin and mix are delivered in line with Legal & General’s Treating Customers Fairly Policy.

Experience

  • Demonstrable experience of managing internal and external relationships
  • Ability to formulate and deliver business plans within budget, utilising all resources at the role’s disposal.
  • Experience delivering agreed customer outcomes through close liaison of a partner that adhere to governance and oversight requirements.

Regulatory Responsibility

  • Operate at all times in accordance with FCA rules and guidelines and Legal & General’s business standards, governance and oversight requirements
  • Hold a comprehensive understanding of the effects of regulatory rules and codes on partner relationship

Product Knowledge

  • Demonstrate a clear understanding of LGHF’s Retirement Lending products, both planned and existing, and their target markets in relation to the partner (beneficial)
  • Demonstrate detailed knowledge of the partner’s structure and their key business drivers in order that Legal & General can maximise mutual benefit. Manage the relationship so Legal & General are the preferred choice for distribution.

  • The jobholder should be capable of dealing with problems that arise and be confident in making decisions where appropriate
  • Seek proactive resolution and suggest ways to improve existing processes and procedures.

  • The jobholder is required to work as part of a team, building up good relationships with the management team and also other groups within Retirement and other Legal & General areas, irrespective of location and including external contacts
  • Take a proactive approach to building relationships with external strategic partner executive contacts, gaining trust and respect.

Networking

  • The ability to build on internal and external relationships is essential. Know who in L&G the experts are.

Communication

  • Excellent communication skills are essential, as the jobholder will be regularly communicating on behalf of the Head of Affinities and the wider LGHF business and to external strategic partners.

Commercial Awareness

  • Understand commercial and financial matters
  • Focus on costs, profits, new business opportunities and activities that meet the conduct agenda whilst improving profits for LGHF.
