To perform, under guidance, tasks and processes to enable an effective and efficient financial reporting service for LGR Reporting, providing financial results for all metrics, supporting analysis and commentary on a timely basis and to the appropriate level of quality.  Provide regular and reliable updates to managers to enable the team to disseminate financial information in an effective and informative manner, ensuring its presentation and analysis meet the wide background and experience of the customer base. Identify process improvements and support integration of improvements and other change into the reporting cycle.

Principal accountabilities

Financial metrics delivery: Perform tasks and processes, under guidance, to support and enable the delivery of timely financial reporting results, for metrics including, but not limited to, Peak 1, IFRS, EC, Solvency II bases of reporting, meeting internal and external standards. This includes all aspects of the end-to-end reporting process: data creation, assumption population, setting off Prophet runs, summarising, validating and analysing results.

Process management and improvement: Perform, under guidance, the tasks necessary to enable the development, support, maintenance and continuous improvement of the team’s financial reporting systems, processes and actuarial reporting methodologies, ensuring that they are robust, for the ongoing production of the financial results.

Internal relationship building: Assist Managers in building and maintaining effective relationships with stakeholders including, but not limited to, Production Centre, Consolidation Team, Modelling & Finance Solutions and the wider Finance Team.  Pro-actively engage with customers to ensure our deliveries continue to meet customer needs and the quality expected.  Proactively engage with suppliers to ensure that the supplier understands the team’s requirements in terms of timeliness and quality and the dependency on their service for the reporting cycle.

Planning: Contribute to planning and resource allocation by assisting with the prioritisation and scheduling of reporting activities.

Team Working: Display positive attitudes and behaviours to maximise the performance of the overall team.  Share knowledge and help team members to develop the necessary skills to deliver an effective reporting service for LGR Finance.

Qualifications

The role would suit an actuarial student. 

Knowledge

Typically the jobholder will have an understanding of the following:

  • Prophet or other actuarial modelling software, Excel & VBA
  • Some of the reporting metrics: IFRS, EV, EC, Solvency II
  • Insurance products, preferably bulk and individual annuity products
  • UK finance sector

Specific experience and skills:

  • Analytical skills with the ability to review results for reasonableness
  • Experience in running accurate and efficient processes to a timetable, preferably in financial reporting
  • Experience in reviewing processes and implementing improvements
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
