We are recruiting for a Senior Audit Manager, Data Analytics.

To continue the development of GIA’s Data Analytics Strategy and originate, plan and execute the Data Analytics activity in line with GIA’s strategic vision of a leading edge audit function.

Define and drive a Data Analytics Strategy and Plans (to include approved budgetary requirements) to support each of the Heads of Audit plans, providing for sufficient flexibility in application to respond to changing demands and needs.

Lead the development of a suite of technology tools and techniques for GIA. This may include the development of AI and robotics for use in audit work and support activities.

Provide support to the Head of Audit for Professional Practice in producing analytics for use in stakeholder reporting (including reporting to the Group Audit Committee) and such other support as may be required.

Build relationships with data owners across the group and the knowledge of controls, risks, and technical structure of enterprise data to enable extraction of data-sets for audit objectives.

Identify, with the Heads of Audit / Senior Audit Managers, the key risks on each audit that can be addressed with Data Analytics, and negotiate metrics to answer those risks.

Provide training and coaching to audit team members and take the lead in developing a network of Data Analytics champions in GIA.

Establish an evolving toolkit of analysis techniques that can be deployed in audits by Senior Audit Managers / Audit Managers to use enterprise data sets to address audit risks.

Build relationships with senior stakeholders around the Group in such areas as Compliance, Distribution, and Group Financial Crime; and ensure that best practice is shared with equivalent Senior Managers / Directors in other areas across Legal & General

Communicate audit findings from data analytics to senior stakeholders in order to influence them to implement improved systems, reporting and controls on a timely basis.

Be acknowledged internally and externally as a Data Analytics in Internal Audit expert.

With regard to the management of employees, ensuring that management discretion is used in a consistent manner and that the area follows the Group’s policies and procedures including the Partnership Agreement to maximise business performance.

Strategic thinking/planning knowledge

Strong understanding of strategic thinking/planning models and significant experience of applying these.

Technical knowledge

Strong understanding of technical Accounting standards that need to be met by a UK Insurance company.

Economics

Strong knowledge and understanding of macro, micro and behavioural economics – demonstrating their application to Group products.

Regulation Awareness

Basic understanding of FCA and PRA regulation relating to UK Insurance companies with specific focus on financial related requirements.

Basic awareness of legal issues and legislation covering UK Insurance market and sufficient familiarity with legal issues and processes.

Financial Management

Strong understanding of profitability drivers of Group products, including the economic, reserving and accounting impact of decisions.

Market Place Awareness

Strong understanding of UK Financial Services market with specific emphasis on Insurance Markets.

Good understanding of competitors including their strategy, profitability and distribution.

Skills:

Data Analytics

Strong understanding of systems and data sets to enable data extraction.

Proven ability to apply knowledge of business, audit approach, and statistical techniques to enterprise datasets

Range of leading techniques that can be applied to audit analysis (e.g. statistical, fraud detection, linking to external data sets)

Communication and Presentation Skills

Ability to communicate through presentations across all levels of the organisation.

Advanced skills in presenting complex information using charts and other visualisation techniques.

Tailors communication with ease to meet new requirements or challenges of audience.

Anticipates objections to proposed solutions and consistently gains commitment from senior stakeholders.

Commercial Skills

Strong commercial understanding of all group businesses.

Risks and Controls

Can use a wide range of techniques to identify and assess the controls and risks across the Group.

Proactively considers the bigger picture and wider impacts across the Group, incorporating external factors.

Provides high quality risk and control advice.
