The Head of Digital Delivery will lead and develop a world-class digital delivery capability in London’s new digital hub. The team’s stated purpose is to accelerate the achievement of highly-secure shippable quality for digital assets, and to set a brilliant benchmark for delivery approach, technology choices, and execution.

This role will align on delivery approach, tools and processes with other digital hubs, and will also support expansion and adoption of digital strategy and culture across the group, sharing knowledge and good practices where relevant, and support group-wide initiatives to retain and develop digital talent.

  • Lead and manage the Digital Hub in London, a team of 15 to 60 people, providing strategic leadership and direction to enable the delivery teams to meet their objectives. Management of the demand planning, forecasting, budgeting, supply planning and prioritisation of projects within the team.
  • Define, lead and continually monitor all project activity delivered by the team (a portfolio of £2-10m), ensuring adherence to an appropriate and effective delivery methodology, quality standards and architectural principles, as well as delivery of business goals.
  • Drive a culture of continuous improvement in delivery approach, technology choices and execution. Champion and/ embed Agile delivery methodology, DevOps, Lean, and other key drivers of Digital culture.
  • Leverage leading-edge technology solutions, proactively improving L&G's delivery tools and processes, by challenging, innovating and evolving the status quo.
  • Liaise effectively and manage 1-to-1 relationships as required with Management Team, Product Owners and stakeholders. Assist with internal and external communication, improving transparency, and radiating information.
  • Recruit and retain talent. Manage, motivate and develop employees at all levels, in a manner that is consistent with the Company’s policies and procedures including the Partnership Agreement, to maximise the performance of the area.
  • Operationally manage the London Digital Hub including its office location, facilities and services, in conjunction with Group Real Estate and other corporate functions.
  • Ensure that appropriate prioritising, planning, resourcing and contingency for customer issues are integrated into programme and resource plans so they are central to delivery and aligned to Legal & General’s Customer Experience and Treating Customers Fairly policy.

Qualifications:

  • Numerate or software sciences degree.
  • Certified Scrum Master (CSM), Scrum Professional (CSP), Qualified ISTQB tester or test manager, or equivalent experience.
  • Other IT qualifications such as ITIL or TOGAF will be an advantage.

Knowledge:

  • An expert understanding of Agile delivery frameworks, processes, practices, tools and why they are important.
  • An understanding of how software quality can be improved holistically at a cultural and behavioural level.
  • An understanding of the different drivers and needs of customers, distributors and partners, across all business units.
  • A strong understanding of digital products and technologies, their development, usage and application.
  • Talent, budget and risk management, including operational risk management

Experience:

  • Very strong technical background either as a Business Analyst, Software Developer, Senior Test Analyst or Project Manager, gained in an Agile development environment.
  • Experience of leading teams who have delivered successful modern software development projects adopting agile principles, with significant front-end development and automated testing and deployment.
  • Some understanding of IT and data architectures, infrastructures and business processes they support and the ability to interpret these into innovative system solutions and controls to meet business needs.
  • Deep experience of line management and professional development, especially within a large corporate environment.

  • Effective at making good decisions and delivering great outcomes in support of the strategy.
