We are recruiting for a number of exciting opportunities for full time or part time Senior Medical Insurance Underwriters, based in either Cardiff, Hove, Edinburgh or Bristol. Underwriting experience is beneficial.

We are recruiting for a number of exciting opportunities for Senior Medical Insurance Underwriters, based in either Cardiff, Hove, Edinburgh or Bristol. Our successful candidate will have previous medical Underwriting experience.

We are recruiting for full time and part time (28 hours per week) positions.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Assessment of Life, Critical Illness and Disability products and risks to determine which terms if any can be offered.
  • Adherence to internal Underwriting guidelines and philosophy
  • Utilisation of Reinsurance manuals and expertise
  • Demonstrate a positive attitude to all our customer requirements in an efficient and professional manner to provide exceptional customer experience. Ensure that the agreed service levels are met or exceeded.
  • Ensure appropriate management information is captured and maintained as required, from which accurate communications can be delivered and effective business decisions made.
  • Provide technical support to peers and colleagues through checking, mentoring and coaching.
  • Ensure requests for information are appropriate and commensurate with the risk being assessed.
  • Ensure regulatory CBT’s are completed according to company policy, reviewing and maintaining knowledge as appropriate.

Experience

  • Experience within a Medical Underwriting role

Analysis/Decision Making

  • Analysis and evaluation of risk data including financial information
  • Requesting the correct evidence appropriate to the risk presented
  • Making accurate decisions within authority
  • Confident decision making within authority
  • Show appropriate business judgement and commercial awareness
  • Check cases for underwriters with lower authority and provide appropriate feedback

Communications

  • Effective written and verbal communication through all media e.g. telephony, letter writing, participation in meetings and forums, presentations
  • Interacts with colleagues and customers resulting in positive relationships
  • Effective coaching and feedback skills

Sharing Knowledge

  • Willingness to engage in technical discussions with all colleagues and customers via different media
  • Provide technical support, coaching, mentoring and feedback for peers and colleagues for continuous improvement

Initiative and Problem Solving

  • Use initiative to play an active part in team development and self-development
  • Proactively seek solutions and ideas to help create a cost effective and customer focussed environment
