The role holder’s primary responsibility is to oversee and establish a set of relationships with all LA’s where L&G Affordable Homes is receiving nominations from Councils and where it is working with council housing officers.

The role holder’s primary responsibility is to oversee and establish a set of relationships with all LA’s where L&G Affordable Homes is receiving nominations from Councils and where it is working with council housing officers.

The role holder will report to the Director of Operations and will work alongside the Housing Managers to ensure the successful establishment of the business and timely occupation of homes that have been handed over to the property manager.  The role holder will be responsible for:

• Establishing communication arrangements with Council nomination teams in all the geographical areas that the business operates so that the relevant Council accepts, supports and cooperates-with L&G Affordable Homes as an affordable housing provider.
• Visiting and meeting with all Councils where L&GAH are active and presenting the L&G Affordable Homes proposition and ensuring all Councils approve and efficiently work with L&G in the areas we operate in.
• Overseeing the allocations process, including managing any adverse consequences in relation to allocations that are refused by L&GAH.
• Ensuring the vetting process for potential tenants is properly and accurately undertaken.
• Positively promoting the L&GAH business and feeding back any issues and concerns to senior management so these can be addressed in the communications processes and materials with Councils.
• Being responsible for a sample review of probationary tenancies to ensure that probationary tenancies are moving through to 5 year tenancies in accordance with our policies.
• Pro-actively managing the relations with Councils in relation to nominations and dealing with complaints from Councils in relation to nomination problems.
• To ensure, at all times, schemes are contracted and managed in accordance with the risk parameters of the business.
• Maintain excellent customer service standards, in line with Group expectations at all times.

Qualifications:

• Degree educated or equivalent
• Strong academic background, with a housing management background

Track record

• Experience in tenancy management and the letting process for affordable housing
• Maintaining trustworthy and responsive relationships with councils
• Effective allocations management
• Good experience in relationship management

Experience

• Knowledge of the affordable housing sector, in particular an expert understanding of social housing management and letting and the statutory responsibilities of RP’s and councils
• Acting efficiently and pro-actively within defined decision making processes
• Experience of working with Councils on the nominations process
