We are recruiting for an Employment Taxes Manager (Part Time) to be based in either our London offices, Hove offices or Homebased.

Support the Head of Employment Taxes in providing specialist technical advice on employment tax and social security issues.

Apply judgement and technical skills to provide tax advice and guidance on employment tax matters to other members of the Group Tax team, L&G’s business units and HR teams.

Provide specific guidance on policy and compliance to HR departments involved in overseas assignments.

Provide training to HR and Finance on employment tax issues with which they are involved (e.g. termination payments, PSA).

Issue updates on tax technical issues to appropriate areas of the business,

Support the Head of Employment Taxes in monitoring employment tax compliance across the Group, identify tax risks and work with the business to manage them and achieve compliance

Prepare annual for filing reports with HMRC: Appendix 7B (i.e. NICs on benefits provided to tax-equalised employees working outside the UK); STBV report; Form 42 for LGIM and any other exceptional reportable arrangements not included in Shares Department’s form 42; PAYE Settlement Agreement.

Manage relationships with external advisers and work closely with outsourced providers (e.g. NGA, the outsourced UK payroll provider) as needed and in the most cost effective way possible for the Group.

Maintain an internal network across L&G to ensure employment taxes are being dealt with appropriately and consistently across the group.

Maintain external network of peers to ensure awareness of issues and changes that could affect L&G, and manage any risks emerging

Support the Head of Employment Taxes in preparing and submitting representations on employment taxes matters to tax authorities and relevant industry or advisory bodies to ensure L&G’s view are appropriately represented. 

Qualifications and experience:

•A recognised professional financial qualification, e.g. CTA, AIIT, CA, ACA with a minimum of 4 years' post-qualifying experience, or with equivalent experience of employment taxes.

•Member or fellow of the Chartered Institute of Taxation or with sufficient tax experience to maintain up-to-date professional knowledge.

Knowledge:

•Experience of working in-house in financial services would be desirable but is not essential.

•Detailed knowledge of the relevant tax legislation and guidance applying to UK employment taxes.

•Competent in use of IT systems such as Microsoft Word.

•Strong numerical skills

•Ability to provide clear advice to meet the business objectives.

•Ability to deal with changing priorities and to manage simultaneous deliverables

•Articulate, honest and authoritative in finding the right style and words to influence, challenge or motivate a group or individual.

•Prepared to be the bearer of unwelcome or uncomfortable news with clarity and to seek to find solutions.

•Inquisitive and testing, asks the right questions in the correct circumstances and then (if appropriate) acts on that information.

•Ability to create and deliver clear and concise written or verbal reports and to advise others on doing so.
