We are recruiting for a Group Protection Proposition Consultant (Fixed Term Contract/Secondee) for 12 months contract.

1. Support the Senior Proposition Manager to identify, design, plan and deliver ‘product’ product developments which will: -

  • Maximise either APE, profit or both
  • Meet customer needs and treat them fairly.
  • Conform to relevant regulation, legislation and codes of practice
  • Align to the business strategy

2. Support the Senior Proposition Manager to build the business case for change and secure appropriate resources for delivery. Together with marketing, distribution and the project management function, deliver the product change to market taking into account all elements of the marketing mix.

3. Support the Senior Proposition Manager to launch improvements to and maintain products in line with the Product Lifecycle Model so that the needs of the customers are understood and met and in line with L&G’s Customer Experience and Treating Customers Fairly Policy.

4. To manage the end to end process for updating and producing core literature in a timely manner in line with Legal & General standards and brand, and FCA guidelines. This includes approvals, agency liaison and CMS updates

5. Based on ongoing customer insight  / segmentation, market intelligence and competitor benchmarking, product manage ‘product’ Plans for all L&G distribution channels so that products meet customer needs and drive profitability, provide support to:

  • Specify features, benefits and overall proposition(s)
  • Track all relevant competitor and market issues, evaluating L&G’s competitiveness (by product / segment / channel / on and offline sales processes), gaining customer insight and commissioning research when necessary
  • Translate the above into appropriate product and pricing changes, including clear and compelling points of differentiation and customer propositions
  • Define a market positioning, target audience and market size, plus profile / segment the customer base and assess market share
  • Support the sales channels by developing motivating product propositions, defining key features and benefits to promote, supplying up-to-date terms and conditions, seeking pro-active feedback on the competitiveness of our products and responding to any market, competitor or customer insight they might have
  • Oversee the end-to-end customer journey pre-sale and implement initiatives to maximise conversion, up-sell and cross-sell
  • Oversee the customer relationship post-sale and implement initiatives to optimise retention and maximise the life-time value
  • Identifying up-sell / cross-sell opportunities and ensure activity is put in place

6. In conjunction with distribution colleagues identify where opportunities exist to increase sales. Work with them to put in place plans to address underperformance of products and monitor and report on the results to ensure that opportunities are maximised.

7. Ensure issues are identified and addressed to ensure that customers are treated fairly in line with L&G’s Customer Experience and Treating Customers Fairly Policy.

Knowledge:

  1. Experience of proposition development in a financial services environment
  2. Understanding of the risk and regulatory environment in which the financial services industry operates

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

Technical Knowledge area and required experience

1. Experience -

  • Product management experience, within either a direct or multi-channel environment
  • A good general understanding various distribution channels – direct and third party, advised and non-advised sales

2. Regulatory awareness

  • Good understanding of regulatory / legal requirements applicable to Group Protection products

3. Product knowledge

  • Good knowledge of Group Protection products

4. Specific Experience

  • A demonstrable background working in a product development role
  • Sound Marketing Communication / Direct Marketing knowledge.
  • Commercial awareness.
  • Industry/market knowledge.

This means we would consider a more flexible working arrangement, where your hours and work location are managed according to business, customer and personal needs. For this role, you would be based in Hove, but you could work in other Legal & General offices or at home, as necessary, provided this meets business needs.
