Principal Accountabilities:

• To ensure the process for risk pricing Retail Protection products is efficient and robust and assume a key role in the development of distribution and products by providing risk pricing expertise and any additional actuarial support as required.
• To lead on the maintenance and development of actuarial models and ensure that regulatory and actuarial standards are met.
• To ensure that experience is monitored on an ongoing basis to inform management decisions & timely updates of the pricing and reporting bases.
• To provide actuarial expertise to assist in the delivery of new projects and initiatives developed within the LGI division.
• To ensure that existing products with reviewable terms are reviewed in line with policyholder terms and conditions & that the process for carrying out reviews remains robust
• To ensure innovative new risk pricing ideas such as new rating factors or methodology are developed by the team across the UK Protection business
• To ensure that appropriate systems and controls are in place and risks identified and escalated where appropriate to meet the Legal & General Customer Experience and Treating Customers Fairly Policy.
• To take the lead in all matters with regard to the management of employees, ensuring that management discretion is used in a consistent manner and that the area follows the Group’s policies and procedures including the Partnership Agreement to maximise business performance.

Qualifications

• Qualified Actuary

Knowledge

• Detailed understanding of actuarial techniques for pricing long term insurance products
• Knowledge of protection products and the impact of product features on risk assumptions

Experience

• Pricing Experience at a life office or reinsurer

Leadership

• Involvement in setting business strategy & vision
• Management experience of projects and people.
