Legal & General are currently recruiting for an individual to join our Internal Audit team in London.  The successful individual will either be a Qualified/ Part Qualified Actuary or an Internal Audit/ Finance specialist with good knowledge of Annuities, Capital and Investments.

Deliver internal audit work on a variety of audit assignments as determined by the risk-based Audit Plan. Audit focus include credit risk, longevity risk, reinsurance, solvency II and matching adjustment, direct investments, lifetime mortgages, benefit administration and the management and pricing of pension risk transfer transactions and individual annuities.

Produce high quality audit work that is delivered on time and complies with GIA methodology and quality standards.

Perform audits efficiently, and escalate any issues arising over the delivery of the audit opinion in a timely manner.

Maintain effective working relationships with audit stakeholders.

Contribute effectively to the audit team, and the continuous development and achievement of GIA’s vision to be recognised as a leading edge internal audit function.

Take personal responsibility for developing his/her own professional knowledge, skills and subject matter expertise.

We are interested in a variety of candidates for this role.  The successful candidate will be confident in assessing models built in spreadsheets and either be:

A qualified or part qualified actuary with a strong interest in model risk assessment and control but without specific internal audit experience

OR

A qualified accountant with an audit background and a strong knowledge of investments, good maths qualifications and experience in audit of transactions/multiyear projects

Additional skillsets would include:

Risk Management, Life Insurance and/or DB pensions experience would be valuable but not critical

Demonstrates core auditing skills including both oral and written communications

Negotiation.

Energetic and enthusiastic with a strong work ethic and commitment to high quality work.

Contributes purposeful, constructive scrutiny and challenge through sound, independent judgement and common sense.

Has an organised approach to managing workload and meets deadlines

Builds good working relationships with all colleagues and stakeholders  including mid-tier management

Escalates and shares information appropriately

Displays tenacity and resilience in executing audits and resolving audit issues, while remaining objective

Demonstrates an understanding of key risk areas when performing an audit

For this role, you would be based in our London Office, but you could work in other Legal and General offices or at home, as necessary, provided this meets business needs.
