We are recruiting for a Senior Procurement Manager to be based in our Birmingham office. This role is pivotal within the Supplier Management area in maintaining an efficient procurment function within a vibrant business area of General Insurance.

In this role you will manage the team and maintain the governance / oversight controls of General Insurance supplier partners and service providers including contract management, procurement, supplier relationship management, governance frameworks & best practice, risk management , quality assurance, project management, internal/regulatory compliance requirements and performance reporting/insight capabilities.

  • Define, develop and deliver the “Supplier Management Handbook” together with supporting best practice templates, processes and procedures ensuring all procurement and SRM activities are and remain compliant with regulatory requirements and Group Policies and Procedures.
  • Monitor competency, compliance and adherence to the Supplier Management Handbook and procurement / SRM governance frameworks, regularly engaging with Category and Performance Managers, subject matter experts and all suppliers to ensure they are fully aware and compliant of Legal & General’s on-going business / regulatory and legislative requirements.
  • Ensure that up to date signed contracts are in place with all suppliers and that these are reviewed and updated as required to reflect current terms and conditions, requirements of Group Policies, are stored in a secure area and maintained in the central contract management database..
  • Establish robust and detailed contingency plans to ensure suitable alternative options are available and able to be implemented with minimal disruptions to the business and customers in the event of financial failure a supplier or withdrawal of services / contract termination.
  • Maintain relevant and accessible information for risk evaluation and management including industry standards and regulation to ensure due compliance and to enhance business knowledge in all areas.
  • Manage delivery of an enhanced team / supplier performance reporting, analysis and insight capabilities.
  • Regularly engage with key business areas / stakeholders to provide commercial insight, advice and guidance ensuring key developments and new opportunities are properly communicated and considered by other business areas.
  • Maintain a network of contacts and attend industry events in order to enhance commercial awareness, personal insight and business knowledge of supplier/ market activity, legislation and regulation.
  • Ensure the Supplier Management team and the Insurance supply chain complies fully with the roles and responsibilities detailed in the relevant Legal & General policies including but not limited to Group Policy & Procedures manual, Purchasing Policy, Ethical Purchasing Principles and the requirements of the group CSR supply chain management programme including supporting the continuation of ISO14001 and Insurance supply chain compliance with the associated Environmental Management System.
  • Define, develop and deliver governance / oversight frameworks, processes and procedures to ensure that business relationships are sourced and managed in line with Legal & General’s Customer Experience and Treating Customers Fairly policy.
  • Manage, motivate and develop employees in a manner that is consistent with the Company’s policies and processes including the Partnership Agreement to maximise the performance of the area.
  • Lead the procurement process for sourcing of household claims suppliers that support and enable delivery of the defined strategy.

Skills/experience

  • Significant operations level procurement experience, in either an Insurance or Legal environment
  • Insurance law and practice:
  • Broad understanding of risk management and claims handling principles, compliance and regulatory issues, risk assessment, risk pricing and loss prevention techniques;
  • People management experience preferred.
  • Fully conversant with buildings / restoration / surveying regulation and
  • Significant experience in a risk/compliance and/or contracts environment.

Qualification

  • MCIPS or equivalent preferred
  • CII Preferred
