You will be leading the delivery of compelling, innovative marketing campaigns, promotional and communication activities and marketing propositions that support our IFA/intermediary strategy and plans for our Individual Retirement division.

PURPOSE:  This role is responsible for leading the delivery of compelling, innovative marketing campaigns, promotional and communication activities and marketing propositions that support our IFA/intermediary strategy and plans for our Individual Retirement division.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES                                                         

Recommend, plan, manage and deliver integrated programmes of marketing activity and propositions to support the achievement of the business objectives for the intermediary channel within Legal & General Individual Retirement (LGIR).

To work closely with and pro-actively with key internal stakeholders (distribution, Product, Operations and other L&G divisions) to optimise Legal & General Retirement’s  position in the intermediary market.

Lead, develop and manage the Intermediary Marketing Team.

Add value to new relationships and deepen existing intermediary relationships by identifying marketing proposition and cross selling opportunities, and providing marketing consultancy and support, where necessary.

Proactively add value to the customer experience/journey through all relevant touch points between Legal and General and our intermediaries.

Preparation and development of media plans, data selections, data processing, print/production and creative briefs and necessary supplier/internal briefings. Planning and scheduling of multiple campaigns, working with all stakeholders to achieve key delivery dates.

Creation of annual, quarterly and monthly campaign spend and sales forecasts, in conjunction with Product and Distribution. Day-to-day management of the Intermediary marketing budget.

Ensure that all activity meets regulatory and brand requirements as well as supporting the profitable growth of the LGIR business.

To jointly manage the events, conferences and seminars with the Distribution Team to ensure that all activity is strategically aligned to LGIR’s business objectives.

Provide marketing support and collateral (online and offline) that engage our intermediated audiences and support our vision and market objectives so that we are proud of Legal & General at every event.

Maintain a thorough knowledge of the financial services marketplace and understanding of LGIR’s business and propositions.  Keep abreast of regulatory rules and ensure all material is fully compliant.

Define, develop and deliver marketing strategies to ensure products and communications are clear and fair, set reasonable expectations, are appropriately targeted, so that the needs of customers are met and in line with L&G's Customer Experience and Treating Customers Fairly Policy.

Take the lead in all matters with regard to the management of employees, ensuring that management discretion is used in a consistent manner which follows the Group’s policies and procedures.

Demonstrable knowledge of marketing communications in a regulated financial services environment.

Insight into best practice in the Intermediary channel, particularly in relation to extending reach and opening up new areas of support.

Thorough knowledge and experience of campaign planning, management and evaluation.

Experience of effective agency briefing, management and drive for delivery.

Thorough understanding of the role of web and social media as a marketing tool.

Budget management.

Understanding of trends in the Financial services market to help with development of propositions and maintain competitive advantage for Legal & General.

Understanding and practical management of the advertising and compliance sign off process in order to ensure all promotional activity is compliant.  This includes:

  • Advertising Standards Authority rules
  • FCA requirements
  • ABI codes of practice
  • Data protection and consumer credit
  • Brand and brand guidelines

Copywriting for collateral, website and social media, keeping in line with latest trends.

Strong brief writing for insight and creative.

Effective communication skills at all levels.

Educated to degree or equivalent level preferred.  Relevant marketing qualification, diploma preferred.

Experience of working with a brand and to brand guidelines.

Proven track record of managing marketing budgets and optimising spend.

Subject matter expert in multi-channel marketing planning and comms.

Strong creative skills with a genuine passion for the customer.

Numerate and analytical.

Strong people and stakeholder management skills.

Ability to clearly communicate and influence at all levels.

Solid understanding of the risk and regulatory environment in which the financial services industry operates and the impact it has on marketing and communications.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

Willingness to travel to other L&G and partner offices; there will be the requirement to be in Solihull on a regular basis, up to 8 days per month including overnight stays.

Our view is that this role is suitable for agile working. This means we would consider a more flexible working arrangement, where your hours and work location are managed according to business, customer and personal needs. For this role, you would be based in Hove, but you could work in other Legal & General offices or at home, as necessary, provided this meets business needs. Details of agile working will be discussed during the interview process.
