We are looking for an Infrastructure Developer to join our London team.

We would expect the role to be challenging in two main ways:

(a) we need a willingness to learn more about insurance based analytics

(b) we are looking for a team player who can work very well with a significant team already in place, which can help explain how the code base is structured. Our duty is to re-use as much existing code as possible in the new business solution.

The role holder will:

  • Work with other infrastructure developers / business SMEs and help drive out the required object structure – ensuring new development is compatible with existing functionality. Take design direction from the Atlas architect.
  • It is essential that the candidate has very developed C++ skills on day 1 as the incumbent will be expected to work within the analytics library, making re-use of existing functionality wherever possible and to ensure new functionality is as flexible as possible.
  • Opportunity exists to expand knowledge of financial modelling to ensure a complete understanding of functionality being developed. Look to senior members of the team to explain new functionality requirements where it is unclear.
  • Understand the role of the Atlas analytics library in L&G group.
  • It is essential that all code is as understandable as possible, well commented and documented. Full coding standards will be adhered to.
  • The Analytics team is a high performance team which will require a significant commitment from the role holder.
  • Good communication skills are required in enabling a full understanding of new functionality to be delivered to members of the wider teams.
  • It is essential that this candidate can employ their own mental process to figure out the most optimal IT solutions. The role holder will be expected to direct others without the encumbrance of line management responsibility.
  • A numerate candidate is sought to add more capacity to a highly respected team with a significant developer skill base and developed knowledge of Financial services would be an advantage.

 

A confident C++ developer with experience of a sophisticated code base is essential.
