The Head of FRC Technical Accounting & Financial Controls will lead all aspects of technical accounting and financial control for FRC, working collaboratively with the FRC BAU and Projects teams. You'll be providing expertise and thought leadership as an adviser to the FRC senior management team helping to further develop a specialist centre for statutory and regulatory reporting.

  • Providing technical assurance to all external financial reporting deliveries (IFRS and SII), as an additional level of review over and above BAU procedures for new and / or complex accounting and reporting
  • Accountable for the accuracy of the statutory account filings for all legal entities within the FRC
  • Providing ad-hoc technical advice on any matters arising on accounting standards and internal accounting policies
  • Technical input into FRC projects; input and/or review of associated technical accounting papers.
  • FRC lead for impact assessment of new accounting standards and amendments (in collaboration with Group Accounting Policy team), ensuring BAU accounting and reporting teams are engaged as required.
  • High Potential ACA/ACCA Big4/Big10 trained Accountant
  • Demonstrable experience of implementing Financial Control enhancements
  • Demonstrable experience of reviewing Balance Sheet controls and delivering improvements
  • Demonstrable technical accounting experience within Insurance/Financial Services; ideally with technical accounting knowledge of IFRS17
  • Hands-on and Driven; able to be strategic but also hands-on to put the strategy into action and build relationships with a number of key stakeholders and engage/drive change together
  • Needs to be able to demonstrate senior experience to have the gravitas and knowledge to influence change
  • Financial Services experience
