This is an exciting opportunity for a finance analyst to join the Legal & General Insurance Finance team.  You will look after financial planning and analysis of one of the Retail Protection teams, supporting delivery of financial targets by providing proactive financial and management accounting services and delivering sound and effective operational expense management

Produce and present insightful monthly management information packs on business expenses for senior management meetings, explaining key messages, variances and opportunities/risks to targets to assist managers and work with the business to mitigate risks

Manage monthly reconciliation and analysis of actual direct expenses highlighting trends and risks against forecast and budget

Provide financial support in the production of business cases in relation to the division and ensure robust governance is in place to track and report associated benefits  

Identify, and execute, efficiencies regarding process improvement

Enhance cost centre manager understanding of expense management and identify areas of training to improve understanding and ability to self-serve and reduce non-value add queries

Maintain and monitor robust accounting standards, policies and financial controls to ensure compliance with L&G Group Standards, statutory requirements and the control framework, ensuring all processes and financial transactions are compliant with internal and external audit requirements

Support the quarterly expense forecast in providing accurate and timely management information, updating expense assumptions for cost centres and owning input their into the planning system

Ensure that the appropriate Finance MI, process and systems are in place to provide support to Insurance Business Units so that customers are treated fairly in line with L&G’s Customer Experience and Treating Customers Fairly policy

Essential:

An outstanding attitude with a strong willingness to learn and develop in a supportive environment 

Good communication skills and the ability to explain financial items in commercial teams and to create clear, concise and accurate reports in excel and powerpoint

Ability to influence others and operate in a matrix structure 

Qualified or part-qualified accountant working towards professional qualification – full study package will be provided

Advanced knowledge in the use of spreadsheets and analysis tools 

Ability to design, develop and maintain financial models 

Desirable:

Understanding of planning and forecasting cycles, financial approval processes and monthly expenditure reporting and analysis 

Practical experience in balance sheet reconciliations and implementing controls 

Practical experience working in the Financial Services industry and knowledge of the performance metrics used within the industry
