We are looking for Senior Portoflio Analyst with excellent business partnering skills to help support the progression of key projects for our business moving forward. This role would suit a self-starter able to quickly get to grips with a combination of strategic thought and financial analysis of this portfolio, assisting senior finance and investment staff in setting the division’s medium and long-term value creation plan with reference to its liquidity requirements and PBT generation.

We focus our investment on addressing long-term trends for the benefit of the Group and society as a whole. Our sectors cover Homes, Future Cities (urban regeneration, sustainable energy solutions and infrastructure) and SME Finance including venture capital.

LGAS Shareholder Funds (“LGAS SHF”) is the largest entity within LGC and comprises a £5bn portfolio of traded equities, direct investment real asset holdings, cash and intergroup loans.

  • Take ownership for the review and challenge of the financial analysis, financial planning and monthly reporting for the LGAS SHF portfolio. The role holder will be the finance business partner within LGC for the LGAS SHF portfolio helping to provide consistent analysis and understanding of this £5bn portfolio.
  • The role holder will need to develop an in-depth knowledge of LGAS SHF’s business and investment strategies and develop a close working relationship with the LGAS Investment Portfolio Director and their team to provide robust analysis supporting key strategic decision making.
  • The role holder will be responsible for enhancing the quality of LGAS SHF’s financial analysis to provide a clearer assessment of how the Portfolio is forecast to progress against LGAS’s Strategic Asset Allocation appetite. This includes how liquidity is projected to develop over a 5 year period to ensure compliance with the LGC Liquidity framework
  • The LGAS SHF portfolio analyst will need to build strong relationships with senior stakeholders across L&G Group and LGC including the Direct Investment teams to understand their plans and the LGC CFO.
  • At times the role holder will be required to assist with ad hoc financial reporting and analysis projects, as directed by the divisional CFO, including divisional change projects, one-off analysis or project deliverables.

 

Qualifications:

  • Qualified ACA / ACCA / CIMA accountant

Knowledge:

  • Demonstrable commercial acumen and interest in investment culture
  • Industry experience in financial, planning and analysis preferred but not essential
  • Strong excel skills and financial modelling experience

Experience:

  • Involvement in previous planning and forecasting processes, either as consultant, or principal
  • Experience of corporate cash flow forecasting and Group Treasury interaction would be a benefit but is not essential
  • Experience of operating in robust financial control framework
  • Experience of working to tight external reporting deadlines, ideally in large corporate teams

  • Demonstrates initiative and ability to self-start
  • Potential for line management as part of the role
