Leading a team you will be responsible for design, definition, configuration and testing of solutions, along with provision of a Data Integration Service to support Group Finance. You’ll develop, manage and lead the close working relationship with third party providers of engineering solutions for L&G, ensuring that quality and security are of the highest standard.

Accountabilities:

To deliver a range of IT related deliveries into key business project, and to deliver specific IT / technical projects as part of the Group Finance IT Portfolio to agreed time, cost and quality criteria. Assist in designing and implementing new solutions and enhancing existing solutions as directed by the Head of IT Solution Delivery.

Responsibilities:

Responsible for the delivery of highly complex IT projects, or specific IT Work-streams, establishing and maintaining the correct structures to control and monitor the deliverables to the business in order to realise the benefits as defined in the Business Case.

Ensure the delivery of IT projects and IT work streams by  to time cost and quality through effective  planning, scheduling, controlling  all IT related activities, ensuring that project, quality / risk / security / data & communication plans are prepared and maintained, and that issues, risks, assumptions and dependencies are actively managed through to their successful resolution.

Delivers effective communication to all interested parties, key stakeholders and Senior Managers to support effective decision-making and the smooth and efficient delivery of IT projects. Understands the  impact the on the Business and IT Unit, and manage the change in close cooperation with Senior Business Managers in order to ensure any disruption is kept to a minimum to ensure business are engaged and ready to receive the solutions

Manages IT suppliers and third party relationships, ensuring that dependencies are effectively identified / managed, and that deliverables to agreed plan and cost and quality. .

Determines, monitors, and reviews all IT project economics, including costs, IT staffing requirements, IT project resources, and  risk, ensuring that there are appropriate and effective governance arrangements, supported by appropriate and timely reporting.

Ensures that software development life cycle governance and control procedures are in place so that these can be used to assess the risks, issues, assumptions and has on project costs, timescale and resources.  Ensures these are effectively captured and reported to the IT Sponsors, Line Managers, or relevant Project governance bodies .

Demonstrates compliance with agreed methodology, standards, policies and procedures to ensure strong governance.  Ensure that the work is fully documented and available in order to provide an appropriate audit trail. To consider TCF in all deliveries

Support in all matters with regard to the management of employees, ensuring that management discretion is used in a consistent manner and that the area follows the Group’s policies and procedures including the Partnership Agreement to maximise business performance.

 

Qualifications:

IT related degree (preferred but not essential) or equivalent

Knowledge:

The Finance and / or regulatory environment, including FCA, PRA is desirable   

Recognised, formal standards for IT control and Security Management Systems, including ISO27001, COBIT, ITIL

System Testing

Technical solution design

Supplier procurement process and supplier management

Good understanding of Financial, actuarial, data and BI solutions

Tools, technologies and languages: C# JavaScript, Powershell, Oracle Financials ERP, SAS, VBA .net, Visual Studio, SQL

Experience:

Proven experience within IT of delivering a range of IT Projects, preferably in the Financial Service industry.

Strong overall application delivery and IT/Technical project management specific skills and experience and commercial awareness across multiple functional areas.

Strong customer focus.

Strong financial acumen with ability to effectively manage and control budgets, whilst ensuring value for money is delivery.

Significant experience in managing delivery of IT projects, with a mix of ‘BAU’ and transformational change.

Experienced in waterfall and agile development and associated governance frameworks and standards such as; PMI, DSDM or Scaled Agile (SAFe).

Ability to project a positive image of the IT function and company through interpersonal, written and verbal communications to a wide range of audiences.

Good organisational and change management skills with demonstrated ability to prioritise effectively.

A strong and practical understanding of both on premise and cloud computing environments.
