We are recruiting for an Investment Solutions Manager in our London offices

Drive the build of bespoke investment tools to better illustrate the value-add of LGIM’s investment strategies, focusing on the impacts of LGIM’s asset origination decisions, credit protection trades and day-to-day portfolio management decisions on the financial objectives set for the LGR Business Unit with regards to stable cashflow generation and the Solvency Capital objective.

Lead the implementation of solutions technology to improve the capital efficiency and risk-adjusted returns in the Backbook through an asset allocation process combining fundamental, bottom-up investment views from LGIM (sector/issuer/country/asset mandate specific), credit themes, market patterns/trends and LGR’s longer term, strategic asset targets and risk appetites.

Drive implementation of L&G’s Insured Self-Sufficiency (ISS) initiative, including pricing of new schemes, improving investment processes, strategies and risk frameworks underpinning ISS mandates and overseeing LGIM performance against investment objectives and risk parameters defined in the IMA.

Structure and drive the implementation of improved investment, risk management and data solutions within LGIM’s Nexus Portfolio Viewer to allow for more efficient and transparent monitoring and management of Backbook exposures against LGR’s risk framework.

Drive thought leadership on the development of internal valuation and trade impact models as well as the use of these models across the wider business to ensure capital efficient and sustainable asset origination and trading activities.

Deliver projects to enhance current market and credit risk monitoring methodology and governance framework to more effectively monitor the credit risk profile of the Backbook.

Build relationships with key stakeholders across LGC, LGIM, Treasury, LGR Finance, Risk, RS&A and external asset managers (where applicable) in the delivery of those services to ensure appropriate communication and consistency of approaches between key stakeholders.

Treating Customers Fairly (TCF) – ensure key stakeholders are provided with all relevant information (Management Information) on the Backbook to better inform discussions and decisions on investment strategies as well as asset mandates being considered for the Backbook.

Take the lead in all matters with regard to the management of employees, ensuring that management discretion is used in a consistent manner and that the area follows the Group’s policies and procedures including the Partnership Agreement to maximise business performance.

Top tier MS/PhD in a quantitative discipline (math, physics, engineering, computer science).

Qualified actuary or CFA is preferred but not necessary.

Commercial experience in Python, C++ or another programming language.

Good understanding of insurance company balance sheets and capital and profit reporting regimes.

Good understanding of Solvency II regulatory framework.

Good understanding of asset valuation concepts and models.

Good understanding of fixed income markets, derivatives and alternative investment assets.

Excellent communication skills.

Commercial mind-set and proven track record of building initiatives within the firm and externally.

Demonstrable experience of managing portfolios on behalf of Institutional Clients.

Experience of preparing and presenting to senior management, key stakeholders and/or external clients (winning business).

Strategic thinker: ability to think long term and understand the impact of external events on the determination and implementation of investment strategy.

Strong interpersonal skills: ability to interact well with a broad range of key stakeholders across the L&G Group.

Strong influencing skills: ability to set out clear objectives and to grow junior resources with a focus on developing analytical, problem solving and interpersonal skills.
