We're hiring a Surveying Director who will have ownership and responsibility for the strategic development, leadership and direction of the company’s Surveying function - delivering a market leading survey and valuation solution ensuring target income and turnaround times are achieved whilst managing and mitigating all aspects of risk.

Job purpose:

The Surveying Director will take ownership and responsibility for the strategic development, leadership and direction of the company’s Surveying function delivering a market leading survey and valuation solution ensuring target income and turnaround times are achieved whilst managing and mitigating all aspects of risk.

Principal accountabilities:

  • Leadership: Develop, lead and manage company Surveying function through operational activities ensuring budgets, targets and service levels are achieved. Ensure all people management responsibilities are completed as required and operationally all staff are provided the required tools and training to complete their role.   
  • People management partnership accountabilities: To take the lead in all matters with regard to the management of employees, ensuring that management discretion is used in a consistent manner and that the area follows the Group’s policies and procedures including the Partnership Agreement to maximise business performance.
  • Resourcing: Assess areas and postcodes and develop a resource plan to enable our overall business strategy and activity to enable LGSS to achieve income targets and objectives.
  • Technical: Working in partnership with Technical & Audit teams to ensure high quality delivery of survey products. Deliver timely resolution to claims investigations ensuring thorough and accurate reporting to mitigate risk to LGSS.
  • Networking: Represent LGSS and attend Industry Lender and 3rd Party meetings developing key contacts in 3rd Party Firms and Lenders for the benefit of LGSS. Having a wider involvement in the management functions of LGSS.
  • Communications: Ensuring inclusivity in communication across remote workforce ensuring team building incorporated into the team management plan.
  • ISO 9001: Ensure compliance with quality assurance procedures and oversea the management and maintenance of the staff surveyors. Representing the staff surveyors within ISO audit and the implementation of any OFI’s and quality feedback. Contribute to driving a quality culture and ISO focus within the surveying team
  • Treating Customers Fairly (TCF) - Ensure that appropriate leadership is provided and that processes, systems and controls are in place in order that risks and issues are identified and escalated in the Intermediated Division, to ensure that customers are treated fairly in line with Legal & General’s Treating Customers Fairly Policy.

Qualifications:

  • MRICS/FRICS is essential

Knowledge:

  • Excellent knowledge of Residential Surveying
  • Health & Safety legislation
  • Lender Technical and Administrative procedures
  • RICS Red Book regulations
  • Professional Ethics

Experience:

  • Proven ability to manage a team of surveyors
  • Experience in a Senior Leadership position
  • Residential Surveying Experience
