The Approvals Consultant will ensure that customer communications in any form including financial promotions are clear, accurate and balanced so they can make an informed choice about our products and services.

Purpose:

  • To ensure that customer communications in any form including financial promotions are clear, accurate and balanced so they can make an informed choice about our products and services.
  • To provide a customer focussed, professional, creative and pragmatic guidance and approvals service for Workplace DC communications.
  • To ensure material throughout the lifecycle of the DC Workplace Pensions product range meets all legal and regulatory requirements as set out by L&G Group policies. Identifying the relevant approval requirements for the full range of customer communications.

Principal Accountabilities:

  • To ensure customer communications adhere to all relevant legal and regulatory requirements. Ensuring content is clear, accurate and balanced and in accordance with Legal & General’s standards and policies, including Customer Experience and Treating Customers Fairly policies, thereby enabling our customers to make an informed decision about our products and services throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Be proficient in the department operating procedures and follow these when undertaking relevant tasks. Achieve appropriate productivity and maintain adequate records as defined by the Head of Marketing Services/Compliance, by engaging with projects and initiatives from inception to delivery to gain insight into the end to end proposition.
  • Effectively communicate the outcome of the review of the item to the originator. State what changes are required to meet the standards/regulations and, where appropriate, make suggestions  to the originator to help them improve the quality of the item
  • Keep abreast of all approval developments and other relevant regulatory and compliance requirements as defined by L&G Group. Where appropriate suggest process improvements and efficiencies to Head of Marketing Services.
  • Ensure  individual training records demonstrate competences acquired and maintained as defined in the Group Training & competency policy.

Qualifications:

  • Financial Services or Pensions Industry qualifications are an advantage

Knowledge:

  • Knowledge of Legal & General’s Workplace Pensions product range and knowledge of products provided by other divisions within the Legal & General Group
  • Understanding of Legal & General’s tone of voice in the overall customer experience.

Regulation:

  • Be able to demonstrate a sound understanding of relevant FCA sourcebooks including, COBS, key FCA financial promotions publications and the ASA/CAP Codes
  • A understanding of Automatic Enrollment legislation, Pension Freedoms and Scams
  • Knowledge of The Pensions Act and  other relevant legislation

Product & Processes:

  • Be able to demonstrate competence in pensions products  and have an understanding of investments as relative to pensions only
  • Awareness of end to end  communication and processes within  workplace DC pensions (desirable not essential)

Skills:

  • Ability to share knowledge and expertise with others, suggesting alternative solutions where appropriate
  • Well organised with an eye for detail
  • Excellent communication skills; written verbal and digital.
  • Ability to take ownership of multiple tasks.
  • Minimum of 1-2 years’ experience in a similar regulated environment championing the customer view and/or responding to customer complaints
  • Experience of working with multiple stakeholders.
  • Flexible in approach/recommendations.
