We are seeking an experienced HR Consultant whose main role would be to work as part of a team supporting the implementation of a large TUPE project.

You will lead on responding to enquiries from our impacted population and report on activity so you’ll need experience of using Microsoft Excel.

You will also need to possess real drive, flexibility and resilience to provide the best possible experience for the employee through their journey.

This is for a 3 month fixed term contract, subject to extension.

  • Provide subject matter expert advice to the wider HR team on the implementation of people policies to ensure they are used within both our principles and the spirit of UK employment law.
  • Provide proactive insight into forthcoming legislation and ongoing case law outcomes, highlighting implication for L&G, recommending and implementing appropriate action to minimise the risk of future employment claims.
  • Protect L&G’s reputation through ensuring an effective and constructive partnership between UNITE and the business.
  • Participate in and implement various projects/restructures taking place across the group providing ER expertise to HRBP’s and business leaders where required.  
  • Acting as subject matter expert on HR Policy, specifically for the HR community, as well as an advisor directly to the business on emerging or changing regulatory or legislative matters that impact our people policies.
  • Proactively drive the development of people management capability with line managers to reduce reliance on HR through the design and deliver of employee relations related training.
  • Identify, analyse and interpret people related MI for the purpose of influencing business unit plans and effectively implementing the right business solutions.

There will be a requirement for ad hoc travel to other locations throughout the UK and this will be determined by the location of the case / project implementation.

Qualifications:

CIPD Level 7 or equivalent demonstrable experience

Knowledge:

  • A detailed and strong understanding of employment legislation is essential
  • Ability to build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, senior management and HR colleagues
  • Experience of operating in a Unionised environment would be an advantage
  • Experience of delivering TUPE/merger activities would be benefical
  • Experience in managing complex employee relations and conflict resolution in a commercially focused way is essential
  • Experience in managing and implementing organisational design would be an advantage
  • Good commercial awareness of the organisation and the challenges and opportunities it faces within the context of HR people impacts

Skills:

  • Excellent organisation, communication, research and presentation skills with outstanding attention to detail
  • Experience of using Microsoft Excel around data manipulation and reporting is essential
  • Excellent communication skills both verbally and written
  • Ability to analyse information, recommend pragmatic solutions an commercially focused decisions
  • Ability to operate within a matrix style organisation managing differing expectations of stakeholders
  • Demonstrates the ability to identify, interpret and analyse key information for the purposes of improving service and performance.
  • Demonstrates resilience when faced with challenging situations and ambiguity
  • Ability to make judgements and appropriately risk-assess business solutions
