A great new opportunity to join our IT team as a Data Warehouse Administrator - to support the Data Warehouse Manager with the operation and ongoing maintenance and development of the Data Warehouse, as well as supporting the MI team and wider business with data solutions.

Purpose:

To support the Data Warehouse Manager with the operation and ongoing maintenance and development of the Data Warehouse, as well as supporting the MI team and wider business with data solutions. Good knowledge of the systems in use and an understanding of the lifetime mortgage market will enable the role to interrogate, ratify and produce workable data for use across the company and the Group.

Role requirements – this role requires a good degree of technical IT system literacy, with a strong proficiency in SQL.  A broader understanding of the lifetime mortgage market is not essential but would be an advantage.

Principal Accountabilities:

  • Assist in the optimization of SQL statements, supporting the business’s ETL process.
  • Interrogation of data in response to business queries.
  • Safeguard the performance, security, and availability of databases.
  • Prepare data warehouse documentation and diligently follow data governance procedures
  • Support the MI team in the automation of reporting.
  • Interrogating, ratifying and producing workable data for use across the company and the group.
  • Carry out data verification and data cleaning exercises to create more robust reporting.
  • Work closely with the Data Warehouse Manager to continually evaluate the Data Warehouse framework, its appropriateness and any emerging requirements.
  • Where required, provide occasional out of hours support (evening/weekend) to deliver against time sensitive tasks.
  • Provide key man cover for the Data Warehouse Manager and other members of the team.
  • Train colleagues, when required, on data warehouse processes to ensure key man cover is provided.

Qualifications, Knowledge and Skills:

  • Strong proficiency with SQL and knowledge of its variation among popular databases, with skill at optimizing large complicated SQL statements
  • Knowledge of best practices when dealing with relational databases
  • Familiar with technology; able to keep up with latest changes to data analysis and mining techniques and tools.
  • Capable of troubleshooting common database issues
  • This role requires a high degree of technical IT system literacy; Excel, SQL Server, TSQL for example.
  • A broader and continually updated understanding of the lifetime mortgage market.
