We are recruiting for a Finance Analyst for a 12 month fixed term contract

Allocated Expenses

Reporting. Assist with the delivery of the expense allocation month end to the divisional finance teams within agreed timescales; ensuring the integrity and robustness of the data; processing allocation rule changes, reconciliations, upload volume data, provision of MI and month end reports.

Forecasting & Planning. Assist with forecast and planning processes, drafting forecast and planning timetable, maintaining KPIs, processing all allocation rule changes, provision of MI data and loading of volume data provided by Operational areas. 

Expense and Allocation Model

Advocacy. Promote the system, utilising good levels of knowledge to develop the user community for maximum efficiency and usage.  Take ownership of setting best practise and working closely with the divisional finance teams on system usage and reports.

Financial Controls. Work within a strong control framework, assisting with reviewing and updating process documentation. Perform checks – both internally and with business partners – to ensure accuracy and consistency within the allocation model.

Business Partnering. Work collaboratively with the business partners to strengthen business partnering links and understanding of the core expense volume drivers impacting the allocated expenses.

Development Identifying opportunities for process improvement, adding and maintaining them on the continuous improvement log and processing them through to execution. Assist with the improvements for expense allocation processes and the ongoing development of the company-wide expense planning tool.

Teamwork. Work collaboratively – both within the team and with other stakeholders – to manage multiple priorities and ensure delivery targets are met.

Treating Customers Fairly. Ensure that the appropriate Finance MI, process and systems are in place to provide support to the product divisions so that customers are treated fairly in line with Legal & General’s Customer Experience and TCF policy.

 

Qualifications:

ACCA / CIMA studier / part qualified

A degree is desirable but not essential if comparable experience in an analytical finance role can be demonstrated.

Knowledge:

Intermediate Excel

A general awareness of UK GAAP and an understanding of the ethical framework for finance professionals

A general understanding of the financial service sector, its key regulators and the nature of long term insurance business.

A good understanding of process integrity and task dependency in complex processes sufficient to propose design options, audit, test and understand the constraints of complex spreadsheet and database models.

Skills:

Good desktop skills – particularly Excel - with the ability to gather data from a number of complex systems, ensuring accuracy and completeness.

Good finance system skills – particularly on Oracle ledger systems and MI reporting tools – with the ability to integrate and assess data for validity and onward reporting

Good written and verbal communication

Ability to interpret numerical data and understand business metrics in the context of allocated expenses.
