  • Deliver Business Testing for projects to agreed time/budget/quality tolerances as laid down in the business case, test strategies and commercial agreement with IT service providers.
  • Create the business test deliverables throughout the whole project lifecycle applying best practice testing principles to ensure cost effective testing whilst balancing business risk.
  • Determine the appropriate test approach, methodologies, tools and resourcing, liaising with Business and IT functions (including 3rd parties) to ensure cost effective testing and that coverage mitigates business risk.
  • Control entry criteria to Business Acceptance Testing and make recommendations at exit from Business Acceptance Testing.
  • Provide effective communication across Business units and IT functions (including 3rd parties) to support and manage the smooth delivery of test activity.
  • Conduct test reviews techniques throughout the development lifecycle, identifying any exceptions to agreed Entry/Exit Criteria and agreeing appropriate responses with all internal and external stakeholders taking into account commercial implications of proposed way(s) forward.
  • Coordinate activities within and across Business units and IT function (including 3rd parties) to deliver the test strategies providing expert advice and guidance on test methods, techniques and tools at all stages of the development life cycle, with the aim of implementing the best approach to testing and facilitating the business through this process.
  • Comply with the agreed test methodology and standards to ensure good governance and record keeping in line with Legal & General test principles and commercial interests.
  • Define, develop and deliver, processes and systems to ensure a consistent and good level of service that means customers' expectations are met, is consistent with what we have communicated and is aligned to L&G’s Customer Experience and Treating Customers Fairly policy.
  • Participate and lead test planning sessions and retrospective reviews, and be involved in key initiatives to implement best practices in testing and quality assurance.
  • Manage, motivate and develop employees at all levels, in a manner that is consistent with the company's policies and procedures, to maximise the performance of the area.

Skills and Knowledge:

  • Ability to identify and implement appropriate quality test processes and standards.
  • Full understanding of test planning, effort estimation, test scheduling, tracking and reporting.
  • Understanding and supporting of the implementation of test maturity models.
  • Good understanding of building test teams and managing their performance.
  • Understanding of risk analysis methodologies and their implementation in test.
  • Understanding of the different drivers and needs of customers, distributors and partners.
  • Understanding of change area level plans, strategies, business drivers and issues impacting the business.

Experience:

  • Experience in leading test across multiple development methodologies.
  • Extensive experience of managing BAT/UAT test phases.
  • Experience in both BAU and Project test delivery.
  • Experience using test management tools (such as HP-ALM) to manage test execution and reporting.
  • Experience of line management of staff.
  • Experience in Test Management and delivery of General Insurance Products / Projects.
  • Extensive experience of planning and management of BAT/UAT test phases and test co-ordination with Business SMEs/end users.
  • Experience of managing System & System Integration Testing phases.
  • Experience in Risk Based Testing.
  • Experience in managing high complexity and multiple projects concurrently.

Qualifications:

  • ISEB Practitioner or ISTQB Advanced Test Manager.
