LGR Investments is focussed on the delivery of socially valuable investment opportunities via Direct Investments in the UK and beyond, the proceeds of which are used to secure the economic future of L&G Pension holders. This role focuses on the implementation of new Structured Assets, maintenance of the existing range and supporting the development and expansion of the asset classes LGR can invest in.

  • Play a key role supporting various activities of the Structuring Manager in the Real Estate space, accountable for the implementation of new structures and assisting in the development of new assets in collaboration with stakeholders across L&G.  These include, but are not limited to opportunities in the Affordable Housing, Future Cities, and Private Rented Sector (PRS) space, and Rent-to- Buy product categories.
  • Work with colleagues across L&G to compile industry, market and asset level data and financial information to support the initiatives.
  • Leverage existing knowledge of SII SPVs to develop financial models and where necessary amend existing models to support the structuring and/ or analysis and implementation of new debt opportunities, considering risk and return metrics as well as capital and regulatory requirements.
  • Support the development and implementation of the internal rating models for new structures alongside the LGIM Credit Rating team and second line.
  • Assist in the drafting of governance papers to engage and gain stakeholder support for new business initiatives.
  • Apply existing expertise to maintain and develop the internal commercial real estate Sale and Lease back vehicles.
  • Collaborate with the Risk, Operations, Finance and Legal teams to ensure end to end implementation of new and existing structured investment initiatives, to include the implementation of pricing models, transaction management, oversight and documentation.

Qualifications:

Essential: Education/ training in a quantitative discipline or equivalent or work experience.

Essential: Relevant experience with SII Structures, including strong understanding of the end- to-end product work flows, risk aspects and operational considerations of these structured assets.

Knowledge:

Ideally involved in the set-up of property investment vehicles, e.g. OpCo/ PropCo and/or structured finance vehicles backed by Real Estate assets. Familiarity with REIT structures would be beneficial. 

Helpful: An understanding of Solvency II and Matching Adjustment requirements for UK pension providers is helpful but not essential for this role.

Skills:

Familiar with complex, dynamic financial models used to model risk and assess value of investment opportunities in an underwriting, investment or risk capacity.

Developing awareness of commercial considerations when assessing the value proposition of assets to facilitate best implementation approach

Highly Collaborative with a positive approach to problem solving

Strong interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written)

Flexible, adaptable and able to demonstrate initiative

Strong MS Excel skills, working knowledge of C++ beneficial

This means we would consider a more flexible working arrangement, where your hours and work location are managed according to business, customer and personal needs. For this role, you would be based in our London Office, but you could work in other Legal and General offices or at home, as necessary, provided this meets business needs.
