Given the increasing size of the IFRS17 programme we have a requirement for an IFRS17 Project Accountant to support two of the key workstreams (Business Ramifications & Technical Policies).

Lead and oversee the Business Ramifications workstream including the development of the workstream scope, approach, resourcing and plans.  This work stream will oversee the following activities and will require close collaboration with the Group Performance Team and the Group’s Investor Relations team:

The design of internal and external KPIs and metrics, as well as the approach to planning/forecasting and MI under IFRS17;

Management of external stakeholder communications, including messaging to investors and the market;

Communication to the Remuneration Committee on the impact of IFRS17 on L&G’s remuneration metrics;

Assisting the business units in identifying the potential impact of IFRS17 on pricing, reinsurance strategy and ALM strategy;

 

Ensure all policies made are approved by the relevant governance and are understood by those specifying the changes required to L&G processes and systems and ensuring traceability of those requirements back to regulatory requirements.

Provide SME direction to the divisional workstreams on the operating model design and functional design to ensure it is in line with the objectives of the Group.

Lead and oversee the Technical Policies workstream including the development of the workstream scope, approach, resourcing and plans. This will include leading the interpretation of the IFRS17 requirements (working closely with the Technical Lead) and the setting and documenting of Group IFRS17 accounting policies.

Lead the technical policies team to ensure the policies remain up to date reflecting changes in market interpretation with appropriate internal approval.

Provide SME direction to the other central and divisional workstreams on the implementation of IFRS 17 accounting policies into L&G’s systems and processes to ensure it is in line with the objectives of the Group. Lead the development of detailed policies arising from the implementation process.

 

Work with the workstreams’ Project Manager to ensure the activities are delivered in line with the plan and critical path.

Manage and delegate to a small team of people consisting of various disciplines e.g. actuaries, accountants, business analysts to deliver the above accountabilities.

Keep abreast of industry developments to be aware of different approaches across the industry.

Work closely with the IFRS 17 Technical Lead, IFRS 17 Programme Lead and the Leads of all other Central workstreams to ensure knowledge is shared.  

Fully qualifiedThe role holder should be experienced in stakeholder management.

The role holder should have experience in communicating with senior management on both technical and non-technical matters.

The role holder should have experience of participating in Change deliveries i.e. displaying the ability to participate in change.
